Comfort Collars Removed and Height Requirement Reduced on Ice Breaker at SeaWorld Orlando

Updated: Mar 12, 2023

Big Ice Breaker news from SeaWorld Orlando!

The coaster which only opened just over a year ago on February 18, 2022, has been closed for some pretty major changes which is good news for riders who hated the comfort collars and for little kids who were not quite tall enough to ride.

First up is the good news for kids, Ice Breaker at SeaWorld Orlando has reopened following a period of downtime with its height requirement lowered from 54 inches to 48 inches, allowing many kids to now ride the coaster that previously could not!

Leading up to the opening day of Ice Breaker last year, SeaWorld Orlando heavily marketed the coaster as a family coaster, and on opening day, Friday, February 18, the minimum height requirement was 48 inches, but over the following few days, the height requirement was quietly raised to 54 inches, stopping many kids from riding, effectively making the family coaster that was designed for families, to only be available to adults.

Now, with this third change in heigh requirement, the family coaster can once again accommodate families, finally!

The other big news is that the comfort collars are gone from the ride vehicles, and have been replaced with a seatbelt under the lap bar.

The comfort collar was uncomfortable for many people, and a device that was actually pretty unnecessary for Ice Breaker, comfort collars are meant to provide nothing more than a feeling of added security, with the lap bar restraints doing 100% of the work to restrain riders.

Now for added security, guests have the addition of an adjustable seatbelt under the lap bar restraint.

Apart for greater rider comfort, removing the comfort collars will help with loading and unload times greatly, as the ride vehicles are much easier to enter and exit now.

Another huge benefit of no comfort collar is that riders will now enjoy more airtime!!

Check out Ice Breaker soon for yourself, and enjoy the difference.
