4,000 Vehicles, 30-Plus Collections, 1,200 Road Art Items Consigned to World's Largest Collector Car Auction, January 4-15 at Osceola Heritage Park. A record-setting 4,000 vehicles will cross the block starting tomorrow, Wednesday, January 4, at the Osceola Heritage Park in Kissimmee. From the original auction in 2004 that took place beneath a single tent and reached just $4 million in total sales, the annual Mecum Kissimmee auction has grown to consume all available acres at Osceola Heritage Park and, in 2022, achieved a world-record $217 million in sales to become the first-ever live collector car auction to exceed $200 million. More than 30 private collections comprising 530-plus vehicles—more than 430 of which will be offered at no reserve—plus 1,200 lots of Road Art are currently consigned to Mecum Kissimmee 2023. Noted consignments from The Rick Grant III Estate Collection include a 1959 Porsche 718 RSK Centerseat (Lot K151.1), 1959 BMW 507 Roadster (Lot K147) and a 1965 Shelby 289 Cobra Roadster, CSX2516 (Lot K145), to name a few. The 50-lot collection includes a variety of well-preserved classic sports cars from Alfa Romeo, Aston Martin, Austin-Healey, Bentley, BMW, Ferrari, Jaguar, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz, MG, Bugatti and more. - Kitchen Fire at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop in Walt Disney World - 2 Hotels Evacuated
Tonight, Monday, January 2, 2023 at Walt Disney World, a kitchen fire at Beaches and Cream Soda Shop resulted in 2 hotels being evacuated at The Boardwalk Resort. A kitchen fire in the Beaches & Cream Soda Shop at Disney’s Beach Club Resort this evening has resulted in guests being evacuated from Disney’s Beach Club Resort, and Disney’s Yacht Club Resort. Guests have shared videos and photos on social media showing a kitchen fire in the open kitchen at Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, including Andrew Carter on Facebook, Cast Members asked guests to evacuate the restaurant, before guests were evacuated from the entire resort. Orlando Fringe are having a party to celebrate the Grand Opening of their year-round performing arts space Fringe ArtSpace in Downtown Orlando, and everyone is invited! The Grand opening bash will be held on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, from 5.30 pm. The open house and street party is free and open to the community, and will commence with a ribbon cutting with Orlando Mayor Dyer and feature a live DJ, strolling entertainment, drinks and two special preview performances of the Fringe Winter Mini-Fest. The 9,100 square foot Fringe ArtsSpace includes two performing theatre spaces: a mainstage with 166 seats and a black box with 40-60 seats. The Grand Opening Bash will also serve as a fundraiser with all donations benefitting Orlando Fringe and Fringe ArtSpace. "We listened to artists, patrons and community members, and we are excited to have everyone join us at the Grand Opening Bash on January 11 to launch this amazing new space," says Executive Director of Orlando Fringe Alauna Friskics. - Computer Issue that has been Delaying Flights In & Out Of Florida Now Resolved According to the FAA
Federal Aviation Administration have been slowing the volume of flights heading to Florida Monday, January 2, due to an air traffic computer issue. Today, Monday, January 2, 2023, an issue impacting the computer system that air traffic centers use to handle air traffic has been forcing the Federal Aviation Administration to slow the volume of flights heading to Florida airports, including Orlando international Airport. The FAA enforced limitation has been delaying flights in and out of Orlando International Airport, with more than half the flights coming into MCO showing delays, although the airport said there are no major flight impacts, but that passengers should check with their airlines for updates. The Federal Aviation Administration said a computer issue with one of its air traffic systems – which prompted flight delays at several Florida airports – has been resolved, and that it now working to resume its normal flight schedules. As well as affecting Orando International Airport, other Florida airports affected included Tampa International Airport, Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, and Miami International Airport.
- Fantasmic Moving to Single Performance Per Week Day beginning January 17 at Walt Disney World
Walt Disney World has updated its performance schedule for Fantasmic! at Disney’s Hollywood Studios for January 2023. Since Fantasmic's triumphant return to Disney's Hollywood Studios back in November 2022, Walt Disney World has scheduled two performances per evening, seven days per week, allowing as many guests as possible to see the show, due to the popularity of the nighttime spectacular. Now though, as the busy holiday period ends at Walt Disney World, the entertainment schedule for Hollywood Studios is showing only one show per night, weekdays for the second half of January, and then from January 29 through until March 11, only one show per evening is scheduled seven days per week. Here’s a look at the up to date schedule for Fantasmic: January 1-16: 8pm, 9:30pm January 17-20: 8pm January 21-23: 8pm, 9:30pm January 24-27: 8pm January 28: 8pm, 9:30pm January 29 – March 11: 8pm Please remember, that Walt Disney World can change the schedule at any time.
- Iron Gwazi at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay Temporarily Closed
North America's tallest and world's fastest & steepest hybrid coaster, Iron Gwazi is currently closed at Busch Gardens theme park in Tampa Bay. If you are planning on a visit to Busch Gardens Tampa Bay in the coming days, prepare yourself for not being able to ride the parks headline coaster, Iron Gwazi. Busch Gardens Tampa Bay have said that Iron Gwazi will be temporarily closed from today, January 2, 2023 until January 5, 2023. The RMC hybrid coaster is scheduled to reopen to guests on January 6, when the park reopens at 10 am. No reason has been given for the downtime, but with the ride only closed for 4 days, it can only be a minor refurb or maintenance after the busy holiday period at the park.
