- Orlando International Airport launches new "Flybrary" Family Zone including vintage Lake Eola Swan Boat
MCO has launched Flybrary - The first of three new Family Zones coming to the airport, inviting families to relax, read, and play together. A playful library and reading nook, perfect for storytime and fun, has welcomed its first young readers at Orlando International Airport (MCO). Dubbed the Flybrary, it’s the first of three Family Zones that will open at MCO this year. “As young readers travel though our airport, the Flybrary invites them to take flight with new adventures.” said Lance Lyttle, CEO of the Greater Orlando Aviation Authority (GOAA), which operates MCO. “Orlando International Airport has made Community a foundational pillar, and we believe a good community partner honors stakeholders by providing new and exciting spaces to explore and learn.” The Flybrary’s aesthetics align with MCO’s design concepts by bringing Central Florida’s outdoors to the indoors. From the bookshelves resembling trees, stools resembling tree stumps, and carpet resembling water and plant life, the Flybrary evokes the natural beauty of the region. Floating above it all is a special vintage Lake Eola swan boat that pays tribute to Billy the Swan, Lake Eola, and downtown Orlando’s iconic swan population. The swan boat was specially restored for display in the Flybrary. The real Billy the Swan is recognized as being one of the first swans to be imported to downtown Orlando, before gaining an infamous reputation for his aggressive behavior. Nevertheless, Billy’s feisty attitude made him a hit with Orlando’s residents and his story reminds us that even the quirkiest characters can become legends. The opening of the Flybrary, a concept first embraced by MCO’s Comfort Team, is helping to fulfill a GOAA vision: to elevate the passenger experience with amenities that delight guests. “With the Flybrary, we are continuing to raise the customer experience here at MCO,” said Chief Customer Experience Officer Tawana Allen. “This project helps to improve the comfort level of our guests and allows them to experience Lake Eola’s popular swan boats in a different way.” The Flybrary is located post-security in Terminal C, Level 2, near Gate 240 and is open to guests during regular Terminal C operations. Nontraveling guests can also access the Flybrary by applying for an Experience MCO Visitor Pass here: https://flymco.com/experience-mco-visitor-pass-program/ Gotta Go Orlando is your local source for the latest entertainment news, events and things to do throughout Central Florida. - Orlando sets tourism record with 76.7 million visitors in 2025, remaining most visited US destination
Visit Orlando has announced that Orlando has shattered its own record, welcoming a massive 76.7 million visitors in 2025. Amazing tourism news for Orlando, with Visit Orlando, announcing that the city has shattered its own record, welcomed a huge 76.7 million visitors in 2025, a 1.8% increase over 2024 and the highest visitation total in the destination's history. The announcement was made at Visit Orlando's annual National Travel & Tourism Week event at the Orange County Convention Center. Domestic visitation grew by 2.2%, reaching 70.3 million visitors — also a record. Visits by Floridians increased by 3.4%; however, the domestic visitor mix remained predominantly out-of-state. Overnight visitation remained strong, accounting for 70% of domestic visitors, or 49.2 million travelers, representing a 1.8% year‑over‑year increase. International visitation totaled 6.3 million visitors in 2025, down 2.4%, or approximately 156,000 visitors, largely due to a decline in travel from Canada. "National Travel & Tourism Week is the perfect time to announce our visitation numbers and recognize the people behind Orlando's tourism success, which supports local businesses, creates jobs and sustains a quality of life rarely found in destinations of our size," said Casandra Matej, president and CEO of Visit Orlando. "While the total number of visitors reflects Orlando's continued growth, it only tells part of the story. Beyond the numbers are the experiences that motivate travel, the memories created and the emotional connections that continue to draw travelers to Orlando year after year for the economic benefit of our community." Canada remained Orlando's top international market, despite a 13.3% decline from 2024, attracting 1.1 million visitors in 2025. The U.K., Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Argentina complete the list of top international markets for the region. Several markets also reached new record highs, including the U.S, Mexico, Colombia and Japan, all of which partially helped offset softer performance from Canada. At the beginning of this year, Orlando International Airport launched its first nonstop passenger charter flights to Tokyo, marking Florida's first direct service to the Asia Pacific. Top Five International Origin Markets — 2025 Canada: 1,119,300 (down 13.3%) United Kingdom: 933,500 (up 2.8%) Brazil: 736,300 (up 5.6%) Mexico: 458,500 (up 4.6%) Colombia: 360,000 (up 5.0%) Overall, Orlando's visitor mix in 2025 continued to skew toward leisure travel, representing 81% domestic leisure visitors, 10% domestic business travelers and 8% international visitors. The group meetings segment showed strong momentum, increasing 3.1% year over year to reach 5.8 million visitors, reinforcing Orlando's position as the nation's leading meetings destination. - Gideon’s Bakehouse to launch new concept, Six Ravens this summer at Disney Springs
We now know when Six Ravens will open, specialize in “coffyns,” described as fluffy yeast rolls encasing savory fillings. Earlier this year, as Gideon's Bakehouse celebrated five amazingly successful years at Disney Spring, becoming somewhat of a global phenomenon, with fans patiently waiting in line on a daily basis for its freshly baked half-pound cookies and massive cake slices, the local Orlando bakery, owned by Steve Lewis announced that he was opening a new concept at Disney Springs. The new concept, Six Ravens will open in the former Art of Shaving location at Disney Springs, offering grab-and-go hand pies called “coffyns” - described as fluffy yeast rolls encased in a variety of savory fillings. The fillings for the “coffyns” will be supplied by some of Orlando's most popular food concepts, including Bruno Zacchini of Pizza Bruno, and Eliot Hillis and Seth Parker at Red Panda Noodle. Previously we only knew that Six Ravens would open later this year, but now Walt Disney World has shared everything new coming to Disney Springs this summer, and in addition to announcing new eats, entertainment, experiences, and more, it includes an opening timeline of Summer 2026 for Six Ravens. Earlier this year, business owner Steve Lewis explained the new concept "A few years ago, we started exploring ideas for something new that met a grab-and-go need in a small space. I will admit that another small shop caused some hesitation, but an idea came to mind that was hard to ignore. What if we created a place that offered up savory delights in collaboration with some of our favorite Central Florida chefs? After all, I got my start at Disney Springs as a secret menu item at the Polite Pig. It’s important to pay it forward and bring more local flavors to the international crowds we meet every day. So with that, I introduce you to Six Ravens. This new concept specializes in a creation we call Coffyns, the original term for an old school hand pie. This fluffy yeast bread is filled with flavors created not only by the talented minds in Gideon’s kitchen but also by some of your favorite Orlando culinary superstars. Combine that with potatoes, local draft beer, and, of course, some tasty desserts, and you will have a fun new place to fuel your park adventures." Gideon's Bakehouse began in a home kitchen with one goal: to create an extraordinary Chocolate Chip Cookie. Fifteen years and thousands of tests later, the work was complete, Staying true to the original process, cutting no corners, putting every handmade detail into the 20 hours required to prepare a single almost half pound Cookie or a tall slice of Cake, Gideon's invite people from around the world to share in the sweet and the salty goodness that is hand baked into every Cookie or Cake. Gideon’s Bakehouse started inside East End Market 10 years ago before opening a second location at Disney Springs, and as the saying does, the rest is history! You can visit Gideon's in Disney Springs, Sunday to Thursday 10 am to 11 pm, and Friday and Saturday 10 am to 11:30 pm. The new concept which will be located in the former Art of Shaving location at Disney Springs, and not far from Gideon’s Bakehouse will offer grab-and-go hand pies called “coffyns” - described as fluffy yeast rolls encased in a variety of savory fillings. The fillings for the “coffyns” will be supplied by some of Orlando's most popular food concepts, including Bruno Zacchini of Pizza Bruno, and Eliot Hillis and Seth Parker at Red Panda Noodle. Business owner Steve Lewis explained the new concept "A few years ago, we started exploring ideas for something new that met a grab-and-go need in a small space. Combine that with potatoes, local draft beer, and, of course, some tasty desserts, and you will have a fun new place to fuel your park adventures." Six Ravens opens at Disney Springs later this year. Gideon's Bakehouse began in a home kitchen with one goal: to create an extraordinary Chocolate Chip Cookie. Or you can visit Gideon's at their original location at the East End Market, which is located at 3201 Corrine Dr, Orlando, the store here is open seven days per week, 10 am to 7 pm. It’s one format, four stops, six sports. The goal is to boost athlete visibility and global fan engagement. We cannot wait for the series to kick off.” She continued: “We believe the Olympic Q-Series will be really exciting for fans and for the host cities. The fans will be right there with the action – the festival feel, the sport, music, culture – coming to life in iconic cities. It will be fast paced and high energy, with lots of action, world-class athletes and a huge focus on youth.” The Olympic Q-Series is the result of a collaboration between the IOC and six International Federations. It will form a central pillar of the qualification pathway, offering athletes a decisive opportunity to secure direct quota places for LA28 shortly before the Games begin. “We congratulate Orlando for building on a proud sport heritage by being selected to host the final Olympic Q-Series 2028 stop on the road to LA28,” said United States Olympic and Paralympic Committee CEO, Sarah Hirshland. “The vision put forward by the community not only celebrates the outstanding athletes and competition, it invites all who love sport to come together to experience the magic of the Olympic Movement. We’re thrilled for our partners in Orlando and know it will be a great event.” Where and when will the Q-Series events be held? The four-stop series will feature two back-to-back events, first in Asia in May, then in North America in June. It opens in Tokyo, the city where 3×3 basketball, BMX freestyle, climbing and skateboarding made their Olympic debut at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. Just one week later, the event lands in Shanghai, returning to the city where the Q-Series began in 2024. In June, the series crosses the Pacific to Montreal, back to the iconic 1976 Olympic Park as it reopens to a new generation. The journey comes to a close in Orlando, drawing athletes and fans to the East Coast of the US on the final stretch of the road to the LA28 Olympic Games. Stop 1: Tokyo, May 4-7, 2028 Stop 2: Shanghai, May 11-14, 2028 Stop 3: Montreal, June 1-4, 2028 Stop 4: Orlando, June 8-11, 2028 What sports will the Q-Series include? The sports that will feature in each of the stops will be confirmed in due course. “Orange County is proud to welcome the Olympic Q-Series 2028 as Orlando steps onto the global stage as a host city,” said Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings. “Hosting a world-class competition of this magnitude highlights our community’s readiness to shine on the global stage. We look forward to collaborating across our community to host this four-day urban sport showcase, which will allow our city to once again play a part in the Olympic Games.” “On behalf of our Board of Directors, we are honored to welcome the Olympic Q-Series 2028 to Orlando and to play a role in the lead-up to the LA28 Olympic Games,” said Caesar Lopez, Chairman of the Greater Orlando Sports Commission Board of Directors. “This opportunity reflects the strength of our partnerships across the region and our shared commitment to supporting the Olympic Movement. As a global sports capital, Orlando is proud to provide a world-class stage for competition while continuing to elevate the reach and impact of Olympic sport.” How will the Olympic Q-Series build on the success of the previous qualification events? The decision to elevate and expand the Olympic Q-Series builds on the strong success of the inaugural Olympic Qualifier Series in 2024. Events in Shanghai and Budapest (Hungary) demonstrated the effectiveness of the concept, bringing together multiple sports in compact, festival-style urban settings that delivered the highest level of competition, significant spectator attendance, exciting partner activations and substantial global broadcast and digital engagement. By bringing six sports together in one series across multiple cities, the Olympic Q-Series makes the road to the Games easier to follow, more visible and more exciting for fans and athletes alike. Further details on the Olympic Q-Series 2028 – including ticketing, broadcasting and the sports programme for each stop – will be confirmed at a later date.
