Orlando International Airport Re-opens After Multi Day Closure

Orlando International Airport has resumed normal operations today, Friday September 30 at 12 pm after ceasing all commercial operations on Wednesday, September 28th at 10:30am. due to Hurricane Ian.


According to airport officials, the airport resumed passenger flights on Friday, September 30, at 12 p.m. after two days of closures due to Hurricane Ian.


A spokesperson from the airport said "This decision was made after a thorough investigation of any property damage and a careful consideration for the safety and security of the traveling public and airport employees,”



Yesterday, September 29, major flooding affected large areas of Orlando, where all major roads leading into Orlando International Airport were closed to to extensive flooding.


Today all roads leading into the airport, as well as on property roadways are clear, with airport parking facilities also re-opened.



Airport officials say that a number of airlines are adjusting their schedules, with travelers being advised to contact airline and rental car companies directly for the status of individual flights and cars.
