On November 1 this year, we reported the news that Woody Woodpecker’s KidZone would close forever on January 16, 2023 at Universal Studios Florida.
At the time, Universal Orlando Resort only gave vague details of what would be happening in the area, saying that Fievel’s Playland, Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster, Curious George Goes to Town, DreamWorks Destination, and Shrek & Donkey’s Meet & Greet would all be closing to make way for new attractions.
In the official announcement, Universal said work will start soon on bringing exciting new family entertainment to the area, and that beloved animated characters will be involved...
We went into detail about what we thought would be coming to the area, and permits have now been submitted to Orange County for the demolition of attractions within KidZone.
The notice of commencement by Universal Orlando submitted to the Orange County comptroller’s office lists multiple permits which appear to be related to the demolition and removal of Fievel’s Playland, and Curious George Goes to Town.
