With the imminent release of James Cameron's long awaited sequel to Avatar due in movie theatres, could Animal Kingdom's Avatar Flight Of Passage ride be in line for an Avatar: The Way of Water update?
Well. it could actually be happening for real!
The film franchises creator James Cameron has been speaking to the media this week as he promotes the new movie around the world, and yes, Cameron has mentioned the possibility of updating Avatar Flight of Passage at Walt Disney World.
Cameron was speaking to Variety when he commented: "When Bob Iger came back a couple weeks ago, I did send him an email and say, 'You know, we can do "Avatar 2" and 3 motifs and put them into the physical hardware of vatar Flight of Passage Be Getting An Avatar: The Way of Water He liked that idea. So nothing has been decided. But, you know, we would like to carry that along and update it from time to time with things that flow back out of the new movies. Because I think there's a good synergy between the physical base where you can go and just kind of meditate and be on Pandora and how the movies progress the story and bring in new imagery."
Avatar Flight of Passage is one of the most popular attractions at Walt Disney World, and one of legendary Disney Imagineer Joe Rohde's final projects at Disney's Animal Kingdom before he left the company.
Only time will tell if an update is coming, but with James Cameron pushing for the update, we think this is one update that could just be coming soon!
