- Tampa’s River O’ Green Festival moved to Friday, St. Patrick's Day due to Inclement Weather
Tampa's River O' Green St. Patrick's Day celebration has been moved up to Friday, March 17, from this Saturday due to expected storms in the area. The free event will now kick off at 4 pm on St Patrick's Day, when everyone can watch the Hillsborough River dyed green especially for the festival. Organizers say that the best place to view this is along the Tampa Riverwalk near Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park. The St Paddy's Day celebrations includes live entertainment, games, kids activities, food trucks, and of course, beer. Also, new this year, Freedom Boat Club will offer free rides along the Hillsborough River. Visitors to the FREE River O’Green Festival can enjoy a Leprechaun contest, Irish music live on the Curtis Hixon stage, and tons of Irish food and beverages. The River O’Green Fest is organized by Tampa’s Downtown Partnership with the City of Tampa and takes place along Tampa's Riverwalk. In moving the date of the festival, Tampa Downtown Partnership President and CEO Lynda Remund commented “The safety of all our guests and vendors is of the utmost importance,” she added “With storms in the forecast on Saturday, we decided it was in everyone’s best interest to reschedule. The blessing in disguise is now we get to host the River O’ Green Fest on St. Paddy’s Day! We haven’t had the event on the actual holiday since 2018. Disney have also confirmed that Tiana's Bayou Adventure remains on target to open in late 2024 Disney Parks guests will get to experience Princess Tiana’s story like never before following the attraction’s debut at Walt Disney World Resort in 2024, and what a party it will be! The story will pick up where the film left off as guests join Princess Tiana and jazz-loving alligator Louis on an adventure down the bayou as they prepare to host a one-of-a-kind celebration during Mardi Gras season where everyone is welcome. Along the way, guests will encounter familiar faces, make new friends and travel through the bayou to original music inspired by songs from the film. Disney Imagineers recently traveled to New Orleans to capture the true essence of the Mardi Gras celebration, the energy, the colors, the rhythms of the music, all that and more to infuse into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure to create lots of memorable fun for guests! Earlier this year, Disney revealed the upcoming storyline for Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World, read on for what we can expect when the ride debuts in late 2024. At a young age, Tiana developed a deep passion for cooking, and began to dream of one day owning her own business. Her father, James, taught her that good food brings folks together. One of the most exciting parts of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is that we’re going to see where Tiana’s life has taken her following the success of Tiana’s Palace, a restaurant she had dreamed of owning and worked so hard to make come true. Walt Disney Imagineering have creating an original, next chapter story for Tiana. Within the attraction queue, guests will discover that she continues to grow her business with Tiana’s Foods – an employee-owned cooperative. Combining her talents with those of the local community, Tiana has transformed an aging salt mine and built a beloved brand. The endeavor began when Tiana purchased the salt mine and the area surrounding the large salt dome it operated from. With the help of her mother Eudora, Naveen, Louis and fellow owners of the cooperative, Tiana revived the old salt mine and the surrounding land, growing a wide array of vegetables, herbs and spices for her recipes. This multi-faceted enterprise has turned the aging salt mine into a space that has come alive. Complete with a boutique farm and both a working and teaching kitchen, Tiana’s Foods is where Tiana and her colleagues create all sorts of new products that they are bringing to the world, including a line of original hot sauces. Tiana wants to give a big thanks to her family and friends and the entire community for all the support they’ve given her by throwing an amazing party during Mardi Gras season. When it turns out there’s been a bit of a mix–up with the party preparations, Tiana invites us to meet her at Tiana’s Foods to help with the missing ingredient for the party. When we arrive, we may see that Tiana spruced up the company’s facilities with vibrant art from local artists. Food for the party is being prepared and beignets are being loaded into crates for the celebration. All kinds of preparations are underway for the journey into the bayou with Tiana, along with new and familiar friends from the animated film. Picking up where that story left off, Tiana continues bringing people together with Tiana’s Foods, another treasured meeting place to spend time together and celebrate a diverse community. Tiana is also working with cooperative members to teach gardening and cooking to children of all ages, and inspiring other women to run successful businesses as the brand grows nationwide. So many feels!! The fan-favorite Happily Ever After is returning to Magic Kingdom and while Happily Ever After returns exactly as it was before, it is returning with all-new projections down Main Street U.S.A. using the projection mapping system that was installed for Disney Enchantment. Happily Ever After ended on September 29, 2021 and was replaced by Disney Enchantment, which debuted for Disney World’s 50th Anniversary celebration, and it's fair to say that many guests who were fans of Happily Ever After were very vocal about their displeasure with Enchantment and the desire to see Happily Ever After return.
