- Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance to use Virtual Queue during Jollywood Nights at Hollywood Studios
Walt Disney World announced a brand new holiday party coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance is set to use Virtual Queue during the event. Walt Disney World announced a brand new holiday party coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios this holiday season. Disney Jollywood Nights is a new, separately ticketed event that will run on 10 select nights November 11 - December 20, 2023. In addition to shows, photo opportunities and more, guests will be able to enjoy after-hours access to some of your favorite rides and coasters under the stars including Slinky Dog Dash, Rock N’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance and more. During the event Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will be using a virtual queue. TRON Lightcycle / Run at Magic Kingdom will all use a virtual queue for this years separately ticketed Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. It is expected that guests wanting to ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance will have to join the virtual queue at 6:00 pm on the day of the event using the My Disney Experience app. Each Guest can request to enter this virtual queue no more than once per event. This is only available for Guests on the day of the event they are attending, and their specific event tickets must be linked to their My Disney Experience account in order to join the virtual queue. Guests attending this special ticketed event do not need to be in Disney's Hollywood Studios to request to join at the time the queue becomes available. Disney Jollywood Nights is a limited-capacity holiday event. Guests of select Walt Disney World Resort hotels, Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin hotels, and Shades of Green can buy tickets starting June 29. Tickets may be purchased by all guests starting July 6 on the Walt Disney World website. Ticket prices will range from $159 – $179 per person. - SandSerpent family coaster permanently closing on July 9 at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay has announced that after 19 years, Sand Serpent will be permanently closing at the park on July 9 to make way for new attractions. July 9 is the last day ever that you will be able to enjoy the curves, drops, and corkscrews of the wild-mouse style family roller coaster SandSerpent at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Busch Gardens have announced that SandSerpent, located in the Pantopia area of the park is being permanently retired on July 9 after 19 years to make way for an exciting new attraction. SandSerpent is a fun-filled family coaster that zips, zooms and climbs five stories into the air, and Buch Gardens are inviting everyone to ride one last time before the ride is closed forever. Plus, Pass Members will also receive exclusive early morning access to ride SandSerpent from June 30 through July 4. Sand Serpent manufactured by Mack Rides is a Wild Mouse roller coaster that was originally operated at sister park Busch Gardens Williamsburg. The ride first opened in Williamsburg in 1996 as Wild Izzy, before a quick name change in 1997 to Wilde Maus, when the ride operated in the park until 2003. The roller coaster was relocated to Busch Gardnes Tampa Bay, and opened in 2004 as, Cheetah Chase, before receiving its current name in 2011. Sand Serpent reaches a maximum height of 45.9 feet (14.0 m), with a maximum speed of 28 miles per hour (45 km/h), and a total length of 1,213.9 feet (370.0 m). Walt Disney World confirmed today that TRON Lightcycle / Run will use a virtual queue for this years separately ticketed Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party, this news means that now both upcoming Halloween and Christmas events at Magic Kingdom will use a virtual queue. This means that guests will not have a stand-by option during both Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party. Guests attending either after hours event will have to join the virtual queue at 6:00 pm on the day of the event using the My Disney Experience app. Each Guest can request to enter this virtual queue no more than once per event. A highlight event of the holidays at Walt Disney World, Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party is back in 2023 for the holiday season, and will begin on November 9 this year, running select nights until December 22. The after hours separately ticketed event will run for 25 nights, and if previous years are anything to go by, this years 25 nights will sell out! Walt Disney World have confirmed that festive favorites like the Christmas extravaganza stage show, “Mickey’s Most Merriest Celebration,” the sparkling spectacular “Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks” and the merry must-see “Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade.” will all be returning to this years evet. Guests can also look forward to enjoying some of their favorite classic and thrill attractions, including TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise, which will use a virtual queue* during the event. Tickets for Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party are limited and can be purchased online beginning July 6. Disney are celebrating Halfway to the Holidays this week, and expectations were high that the classic Cinderella Castle Dream Lights would be illuminating the castle at the Magic Kingdom this year, sadly they will not be Disney's Halfway to the Holidays event is happening this week, with today, Thursday, June 15, being the day that all the big holiday news is being announced for Walt Disney World including details for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party at Magic Kingdom, and a brand new after hours party, Hollywood Nights coming to Hollywood Studios. But the news that Disney fans have really been hoping for is sadly not going to happen... Expectations were high that the classic Cinderella Castle Dream Lights would be illuminating the castle at the Magic Kingdom this year, but hopes have been dashed as the Castle Dream Lights will not be returning to the Magic Kingdom this year. Instead Disney will continue to use a projection show to illuminate Cinderella's Castle. Cinderella Castle Dream Lights first began in 2007 and was last seen in the park during the 2019 holiday season. The castle dreamllights used 32,000 square feet of nets, supporting 200,000 individual LED lights to create a truly stunning glistening blanket of ice. The lights were the centrepiece of the nightly "Cinderella's Holiday Wish" show, which changed in later years to "A Frozen Holiday Wish." Sadly this year, wishes have not came true for the Castle Dream Lights! Popular low cost airline, Breeze Airways have announced yet another new non-stop destination from Orlando International Airport. Ever expanding low cost airline Breeze Airways have announced its tenth non-stop destination from Orlando International Airport, with twice weekly flights to and from Portland, Maine. The new route will commence on September 6, with service on Wednesdays and Saturdays, with fares starting at only $99 one-way. “We continue to find great opportunities for growth out of MCO,” said Breeze Airways President Tom Doxey. “This new route to Portland will give guests in Orlando a great way to visit a beautiful destination in the Northeast.” Since commencing operations at Orlando International Airport, Breeze have rapidly been adding new routes, with the airline also offering non-stop service from Orlando to Akron-Canton, Ohio; Bentonville-Fayetteville, Arkansas; Charleston, South Carolina; Huntsville, Alabama; Santa Ana-Orange County, California; Providence, Rhode Island; Tulsa, Oklahoma; and Charleston, West Virginia. The airline also offers one-stop BreezeThru service to New Orleans, Louisana and Provo-Salt Lake City, Utah. Breeze Airways began service in May 2021. One year later, it was ranked as the No. 2 U.S. best domestic airline of 2021 by Travel + Leisure World's Best Awards. Breeze now offers a mix of 135 year-round and seasonal nonstop routes between 36 cities in 22 states.
