Tampa’s River O’ Green Festival moved to Friday, St. Patrick's Day due to Inclement Weather

Tampa's River O' Green St. Patrick's Day celebration has been moved up to Friday, March 17, from this Saturday due to expected storms in the area.

The free event will now kick off at 4 pm on St Patrick's Day, when everyone can watch the Hillsborough River dyed green especially for the festival.

Organizers say that the best place to view this is along the Tampa Riverwalk near Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park.

The St Paddy's Day celebrations includes live entertainment, games, kids activities, food trucks, and of course, beer.

Also, new this year, Freedom Boat Club will offer free rides along the Hillsborough River.

Visitors to the FREE River O’Green Festival can enjoy a Leprechaun contest, Irish music live on the Curtis Hixon stage, and tons of Irish food and beverages.

The River O’Green Fest is organized by Tampa’s Downtown Partnership with the City of Tampa and takes place along Tampa's Riverwalk.

In moving the date of the festival, Tampa Downtown Partnership President and CEO Lynda Remund commented “The safety of all our guests and vendors is of the utmost importance,” she added “With storms in the forecast on Saturday, we decided it was in everyone’s best interest to reschedule. The blessing in disguise is now we get to host the River O’ Green Fest on St. Paddy’s Day! We haven’t had the event on the actual holiday since 2018. It’ll be a great way for families to kick off the weekend and wrap up spring break.”
