Paddleboard Orlando has called Wekiva Island home since 2019, but now the business is officially part of the family. Wekiva Island today announced that it has acquired the paddleboard rental and tour company.

Paddleboard Orlando has operated out of Wekiva Island since it moved its headquarters from Winter Park and has been offering Wekiva River tours for more than a decade. Nature lovers and eco-explorers have been able to rent paddleboards at the Island through PBO, as well as book special tours of the springs.

Ned Johnson, the former owner of Paddleboard Orlando, will stay on with Wekiva Island as a river ambassador, continuing to share his deep knowledge of paddleboarding and the Wekiva River with visitors.

“We absolutely love Ned and Paddleboard Orlando,” said Bill Weinaug, owner of Wekiva Island. “When we saw the chance to more deeply integrate everything PBO stands for into our business, we jumped at it. Our love of fun outdoor recreation and the unique Florida environment could not be more aligned.”

In addition to paddleboard rentals and tours, Paddleboard Orlando will be included in offerings for Wekiva Island’s many corporate groups as an expanded amenity.

The Island also offers kayaks and canoes to rent for the day to enjoy the river. In addition, Wekiva Island offers sand volleyball, a boardwalk, food and drink options so guests can enjoy the unique location. Wekiva Island is a family-owned sustainable destination in Seminole County.
