Oviedo Mall partners with Florida Breast Cancer Foundation for Pink Day of Breast Cancer Awareness

Oviedo Mall is turning pink for a purpose. Oviedo Mall is proud to partner with the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation for Pink Day of Breast Cancer Awareness, bringing the Central Florida community together on October 17 for a day dedicated to hope, education, remembrance and support for those impacted by breast cancer.

The day will begin at 7 am with the Race 2 Cure 5K, followed by the Pink Day Marketplace from 11 am - 5 pm inside Oviedo Mall.

“Breast cancer has touched the lives of so many people in our community, whether through their own diagnosis or through someone they love,” said Josh Gunderson, Marketing & Events Director for Oviedo Mall. “Pink Day gives us an opportunity to use the mall as what we believe it should be: a place where our community can come together. We want this to be a day to celebrate survivors, remember those we've lost, support those still fighting and make important information and resources accessible to the people who need them.”

Race 2 Cure 5K

Pink Day begins bright and early with the Race 2 Cure 5K at 7 am, inviting runners and walkers to wear their best pink and take to the course in support of breast cancer awareness and research.

Hosted in partnership with the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation, the race provides an opportunity for participants to honor survivors, remember loved ones and stand alongside those currently facing breast cancer.

Registration for the Race 2 Cure 5K is available through the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation.

Pink Day Marketplace

Following the race, the celebration moves inside Oviedo Mall for the Pink Day Marketplace from 11 am - 5 pm.

The free community marketplace will feature local vendors, artisans, small businesses, community organizations, and health and wellness resources throughout the mall.

Guests will have the opportunity to shop local businesses and makers, connect with organizations serving the Central Florida community, learn more about breast health and wellness, and show their support for survivors, fighters and families affected by breast cancer.

Attendees are encouraged to wear pink throughout the day as Oviedo Mall fills with a visible show of solidarity and support

“Awareness is about more than wearing a color for a day,” Gunderson said. “It is about conversations, education, resources and making sure people affected by breast cancer know there is a community standing beside them. At the same time, there should be room for joy. Pink Day is about recognizing the strength of survivors, celebrating the people we love and creating an environment where support is something you can actually see and feel around you.”

Pink Day reflects Oviedo Mall's continued focus on using its space to bring the community together through events that connect local organizations, businesses and residents.

Community organizations, health and wellness providers, local businesses, artisans and makers interested in participating in the Pink Day Marketplace are invited to apply for vendor space.

Whether participating in the early-morning 5K, visiting the marketplace or spending the entire day at Oviedo Mall, the community is invited to take part.

Wear pink. Shop local. Support a cause. Make a difference.
