Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios recently reopened following an extended refurbishment, and despite rumours of a retheme, the rides Aerosmith theming remained, but for how long?
Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed back in late February for an extended period of refurbishment, at the time no details of the refurb was announced, and although no reopening date was revealed, the coaster was not expected to reopen until July.
With the refurbishment completed ahead of schedule, Walt Disney World reopened the coaster just in time for Memorial Day Weekend.
The retime concentrated on general maintenance, and track improvements, with no changes to the theming of Rock ‘N’ Roller Coaster, the attraction still features Aerosmith despite the rumors that Queen or another band or theme might replace them.
BUT, multi year rumours that Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster will be retimed still persist, and with Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler sued for sexual assault, how long can Tyler and Aerosmith hang around?
The latest rumour in the last few weeks is that following the success of The Muppets Mayhem on Disney+, a series that focuses on Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem, Disney are looking at a possible Electric Mayhem retheme, and now today, there is proof that this could happen!
The creator of The Muppets Mayhem, Jeff Yorkes has said that he has pitched a retheme of Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Yorkes took to Twitter today to discuss the rumor regarding the coaster’s retheme to Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem. he commented "Not gonna lie-- this was absolutely part of our original pitch and is another piece of this dream. Fingers-crossed that it happens."
The tweet will definitely add legs to the rumour, and it will be interesting to see if we do indeed get a Muppets retheme to Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster, we think it would be awesome!!
