Orlando's most popular bars and eateries are set to take over the Camping World Stadium premium areas at Florida Citrus Sports annual Sideline Wine and Dine fundraiser. The popular wine and food-tasting event, Sideline Wine and Dine, hosted by Florida Citrus Sports, will return to the suites and premium spaces in Camping World Stadium tomorrow, April 14 at 7 pm. The annual event features small plates and desserts served up by restaurants from all over Orlando, along with unlimited craft beer, wine, and cocktail samples from popular local businesses. Guests will have the opportunity to win prizes in a raffle, play games like hitting golf balls into the stadium, and enjoy live entertainment. All proceeds from Sideline Wine and Dine benefit the Florida Citrus Sports Foundation and its ongoing K-8 educational efforts in West Lakes. The longest-running Fringe Theatre Festival in the United States is returning soon for its 32nd year this May to Orlando and will feature every genre imaginable, including drama, dance, musicals, comedy, burlesque, puppetry and more. Orlando’s 14-day immersive cultural experience, the 32nd Annual Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival will return from May 16 through until May 29, 2023 and this Monday, April 17, Orlando Fringe is hosting two teaser shows to get us in the mood for this May's extravaganza! So what is a tease show you may ask? Ok, so with so many shows happening at this year's Fringe, what shows are can't-miss? Well, that's what the Local Teaser Show is for, so you can find out, simple really! At the Local Teaser Show, Performers will be performing a 2-minute teaser of their show! Last week we brought you the news that a pretty corner store and coffee shop, Sunset Bodegea, opened on Wednesday, April 5 near Constitution Green in downtown Orlando’s South Eola neighborhood. The new business located inside a former house that was built in 1933 on the corner of East Jackson Street and South Eola Drive had a soft opening on Wednesday, April 5, then only two days later on Friday, April 7, the new business announced on its instagram account that it has closed permanently, placing the blame at the City of Orlando's doorstep. Now we have an update!! Yesterday, Wednesday, April 12, the owners of Sunset Bodegea suddenly announced on Instagram that they have decided to reopen again, commenting that the are now working with city officials to get the place open properly! Read on for the full story... On Wednesday and Thursday last week, while the business never opened its actual doors, it did offer food and drinks, including coffee, tea, espresso, smoothies, beer and more from a walk up window in the building. “We will only be open through our walk up window this week,” the store said in an Instagram post. “If you give us a follow and like this post, you will get a free cup of coffee on us. Just show us at the window.” All seemed to be going well, with the store even posting a picture on Instagram of new stock arriving at the store. Then, Friday, April 7, the new business announced on its instagram account that it has closed permanently. "We are so sorry to announce that we will no longer be opening up in downtown Orlando." The company appeared to blame the City Of Orlando for the stores downfall, "The city staff has made it impossible for us to be successful." The post continues "Please take it from us, downtown is going through major changes and the hierarchy that makes most of the decisions is controlled by one or two people. These people do not care about what’s best for us or our neighborhood, they only care about their agendas. Get ready for a lot of dust as the big buildings and developers continue to get their way with these same individuals. We will continue to live here, raise our kids here, and most importantly continue to love our city no matter what! Happy Easter and GOD bless" No comments were given by the City Of Orlando in response to the comments from Sunset Bodega... Fast forward to this week, and yesterday Wednesday, April 12, Sunset Bodega announced that “after tons of support from the community and several days of getting to understand what we can do better we have decided to REOPEN immediately.” The Sunset Bodega now says that they will be working closely with city officials in order to get the proper help needed to clear the vast number of hurdles. Here is the announcement from Sunset Bodega: "We are happy to announce that after tons of support from the community and several days of getting to understand what we can do better we have decided to REOPEN immediately. We will be working closely with city officials in order to get the proper help needed to clear the vast amount of hurdles to open this type of business in the city. It may take until 2026 to get everything we need, but we are committed to getting it done. LOL... Stop by TODAY between 7:30a and 7:30p for a coffee or a snack." The national adventure park chain Urban Air Adventure Park announced back in February that a new location was coming to 293 East Altamonte Drive in Altamonte Springs, and now we know the attractions coming to the attraction, and we have a better idea of when Urban Air will open. The company operates over 155 locations across the United States, including 19 here in Florida, including Central Florida locations at Winter Garden and Daytona Beach. Falcon's Fury which has been closed for nearly a year, is today, Wednesday, April 12 up and running, (or dropping we should say!!) Yes!!! The great news from Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, is that drop tower ride Falcon's Fury is now open!!!!! The ride has been testing over the last week and then today, Falcon's Fury reopened with no prior announcements from Busch Gardens Tampa Bay. Once the ride was up and running earlier today, Busch Gardens announced on its social media channels that the parks popular drop tower, Falcon's Fury is now open! The park announced the opening with the following post on socials "Look who decided to drop on by. Falcon's Fury is officially back open and ready for the thrills!" Falcon's Fury is a drop tower ride that reaches a maximum height of 335 feet, making it North America's tallest free-standing drop tower. Riders experience about five seconds of free fall, reaching a speed of 60 miles per hour. The ride's name was chosen to invoke a falcon's ability to dive steeply at high speed to capture prey. The ride which opened on September 2, 2014, was closed in the immediate aftermath of the tragic accident on the Orlando Free Fall drop tower ride in March 2022 at ICON Park in Orlando, to conduct safety inspections, as similar rides throughout the country did the same. It should be pointed out that The Orlando Free Fall was an entirely different drop tower ride from Falcon's Fury, manufactured by a different ride manufacturer. Falcon's Fury reopened following the inspection, but then closed shortly after for unplanned maintenance, but has remained closed ever since. Busch Gardens revealed that they had been waiting on parts to repair the drop tower, and with the news that the ride is now open we can't wait to ride again, and again!!!
