  • Trump lays into DeSantis - Claims Disney is destroying him and says Disney could leave Florida

Former President Donald Trump has once again blasted Florida Governor Ron DeSantis in his one man war against Disney, taking yet another swipe at his expected Republican rival for the 2024 election. and it's not just the Donald, former New Jersey Gov Chris Christie and other potential GOP presidential hopefuls have also slammed DeSantis’ for his handling of his ongoing war with Disney. Trump has previously said that "Ron DeSanctimonious got outplayed, outsmarted, and embarrassed by Mickey Mouse and Disney." Now today, following DeSantis threatening to build a prison next to the theme park as payback for trying to strip his powers over the land the Magic Kingdom sits on, Donald Trump has predicted that Disney's next move could be to stop investing in Florida, or to leave Florida altogether, and says that Disney is destroying DeSantis. Trump took to Truth Social to say "DeSanctus is being absolutely destroyed by Disney. His original P.R. plan fizzled, so now he's going back with a new one in order to save face." He continued, "They could even announce a slow withdrawal or sale of certain properties, or the whole thing. Watch! That would be a killer. In the meantime, this is all so unnecessary, a political STUNT! Ron should work on the squatter MESS!” DeSantis and his one man mission against Disney is also causing concern for more Democrats as Former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie said "That’s not the guy I want sitting across from President Xi, or sitting across from Putin and trying to resolve what’s happening in Ukraine, if you can’t see around a corner Bob Iger created for you." He also added “I don’t think Ron DeSantis is a conservative, based on his actions towards Disney.” Another possible presidential hopeful New Hampshire Gov Chris Sununu said DeSantis’ feud with Disney is not playing out how he though. “Look, this has gone from kind of going after a headline to something that has devolved into an issue, and it convolutes the entire Republican message,” Sununu said on CNN. This criticism of DeSatis from within his own part comes after he held a press conference yesterday at the Reedy Creek Administration Building in Lake Buena Vista. DeSantis revealed that there is legislation coming that will revoke the development agreement passed by the Reedy Creek board before the state took over the Reedy Creek Improvement District. DeSantis claimed the “11th hour” agreement created by the Reedy Creek Improvement District was full of “a plethora of legal infirmities that render them void.” He stated his intention to examine lands included within the Reedy Creek District for public use, including some ideas that the new board had floated, including the possibility of state parks, additional theme parks, or a State Penitentiary. YES, DeSantis said that this includes the state board being able to decide what to do with undeveloped land within the former Reedy Creek Improvement District, whether that be a state park, additional theme parks, or a State Penitentiary.! YES! SERIOUSLY!! Also as predicted DeSantis said the state will also take over inspections of rides at the theme parks. At the press conference, the newly elected Commissioner of Agriculture Wilton Simpson talked about further steps that the State could take. Simpson said that there is a proposal from DeSantis and the Florida Legislature that would allow the State to have a new inspection process for Disney World attractions. Currently, Disney World is one of a handful of theme park operators that are exempt from inspections but must report injuries to the state. Other theme park operators included in the 2001 “MOU Exempt Facilities” list include SeaWorld, Universal Orlando, Busch Gardens, and Legoland. BUT, DeSantis said that the law would be drawn to only target special districts, ie Walt Disney World! We await more on this ongoing farce soon! Gatorland has announced the arrival of the most adorable five-month-old Florida Panther siblings to the popular Orlando roadside attraction. The newest additions to the ever growing wildlife family at Gatorland are Florida Panther siblings Yuma and Sakari who have been adopted from a sanctuary in the northeastern U.S., Brother and sister, Yuma and Sakari each weigh around 20 lb., and are 1.5 ft. tall, with Gatorland saying that when full grown, they will weigh up to 150 lbs each. The cubs have made themselves at home at Gatorland’s Panther Springs, a sprawling, all natural habitat complete with waterfall, stream and majestic tree structure featuring platforms and posts for playing and sunbathing. • Ted Nugent announces Adios MOFO! Farewell Tour and it includes a stop in Orlando this July

The 74 year old rocker Ted Nugent has announced that he is retiring from the road following a farewell tour this summer, although he says that he'll still play music and is currently working on new material. The Adios MOFO! Tour kicks off on July 12 here in Florida at the Seminole Casino Hotel, before arriving in Orlando the following night, with Nugent taking to the stage at Hard Rock Live Orlando on Thursday, July 13, 2023. Ahead of his final performances on the road, Nugent is hyping the trek as “the greatest, most intense, tightest, most dynamic, outrageously fun tour of my life.” Nugent says that his hatred of hotels and a desire to spend more time with family are the main reasons for his retirement from touring. “I’m not going on tour anymore because hotels are jail. A hotel room is jail for me,” he said. “My dogs won’t allow me to not spend a day with them, so my dogs will go on the road with me this year. But the logistics are just too complicated when you have dogs and grandkids and kids and so many other things.” As always, keep checking back with us here at Gotta Go Orlando as we continue to bring you the latest news and information from around Orlando and Central Florida You can also discover our latest news, views, and more on our socials, follow Gotta Go Orlando on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. The Letting It Go Show kicks off on Thursday, July 13 in West Palm Beach, FL at iTHINK Financial Amphitheatre, before rolling into Tampa two night later, taking to the stage at MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre on Saturday Jul 15. TICKETS: Live Nation Presale begins Thursday, April 20 at 10am, Code: VINYL, with general Release Tickets on sale Friday at 10 am. Few new wave groups were as popular as Culture Club. During the early ’80s, the group racked up seven straight Top 10 hits in the UK and six Top 10 singles in the US with their light, infectious pop-soul. Though their music was radio-ready, what brought the band stardom was Boy George, the group’s charismatic, cross-dressing lead singer. George dressed in flamboyant dresses and wore heavy makeup, creating a disarmingly androgynous appearance that created a sensation on early MTV. George also had a biting wit and frequently came up with cutting quips that won Culture Club heavy media exposure in both America and Britain. Things To know Before Visiting Gideon’s At Disney Springs! Gideon’s Bakehouse is a popular single-owner small business based in Orlando that has gained international attention when it opened it's location at Disney Springs. It can get pretty crazy at the Disney Springs store with people waiting for hours to get their hands on a prized Gideon's near half pound cookie! To help you get enjoy lots of yummy Gideon's goodness, the bakery have shared some helpful information based on an average day to set an expectation and help you plan. • The bakery opens at 10 am, but the line typically begins to form at 9 am, when the parking garage opens. • Once the bakery opens, when the line gets too long, they switch to a Virtual Queue. This allows you to go anywhere while waiting for a return text. On weekdays the Virtual Queue can start anytime from open to evening or not at all, depending on crowds. On weekends and holidays it can happen right at 10am. After receiving your text, you will check in at the end of the return line. It looks scary but is typically no more than a 15-minute wait. For international guests, we will give you a return time if you can’t receive texts. • Sign up for the queue must be done in person. When active, you will find Gideon's staff to the right of the front door under the protection of Gideon's Gargoyle. • Plan for wait times of around two hours. For busy days (Friday through Sunday, holidays, holiday seasons), the virtual queue averages five hours. The earlier you arrive, the shorter the wait and the better the selection since limited edition items will sell out. A general rule, if you know the parks are slammed, we’re slammed. • On average, between 6 pm and 8 pm every day the virtual queue is active, and the waiting list will hit capacity. When this happens the bakery closes the queue to handle everyone on the list and to ensure the bakery closes on time.
