  • The Orlando International Film Festival returns to UCF Downtown this week

    The 2023 Orlando International Film Festival returns this week! It will be taking place at UCF Downtown Campus Nicholson School of Communication and Media with new filmmakers, panels, and more! For the first time, film enthusiasts, artists, filmmakers, producers, directors, and spectators from around the world will gather July 13 -16, 2023, at the newly renovated, state-of-the-art University of Central Florida Communication and Media building located on the UCF downtown campus at 500 W Livingston Street, Orlando, for the annual Orlando International Film Festival (OIFF) to celebrate film and art. The much loved festival is produced by working filmmakers and industry professionals, and attracts film enthusiasts, industry professionals and talented filmmakers from around the world. Named one of the Top 25 “Coolest Film Festivals in the World" by Moviemaker Magazine, the Orlando Film Festival showcases the best in new independent cinema. This year's festival includes 200 films of all genres from 40 countries during the in-person and/or virtual screenings and an Art Infusion exhibition hosted by Art Army, an international nonprofit organization. This year will be a hybrid event with the addition of the Art Infusion art party. The opening day will include a fantastic experience where film and art are intermingled during an art party exhibition featuring the works of two very special artists, Perego Live and Heps Fury. The art party will showcase visions highlighting the iconic Muhammad Ali. To compliment this special artwork, the OIFF Film Festival will introduce the premiere screening of the full feature movie, “My Father, Muhammad Ali” produced by Chad A. Verdi and Michelle Verdi and Directed by Tom DeNucci and Chad A. Verdi. The film festival creates an exciting opportunity for filmmakers, artists, distributors, and all genre content creators to network and share inspiring stories in the beautiful city of Orlando. The 2023 OIFF Film Festival concludes with an Awards Banquet July 16, 2023, with the announcement of the winning films in 10 categories.   • Seafood restaurant counter, The Current has soft opened in College Park

    Great news from the popular Sanford food counter, The Current, as the highly anticipated opening of it's new location in College Park has now soft opened! Earlier this week, owner of The Current, Mike Smith announced that their second location at 2425 Edgewater Dr, College Park, Orlando was finally ready to open following an extensive remodelling of the building that was once home to Jade Sushi. While the restaurant awaits it Beer/Wine/Liquor permits, they are firing up the kitchen for a series of soft openings. The restaurant is not announcing a Grand Opening just yet, as they would rather do a couple of weeks of soft openings, all the while executing a smooth dinner service. The Current is hosting a series of reservation-only dinner services via Facebook, where you can sign up to receive an event invite to pre-purchase an entrée, which will serve as your reservation for that evenings service. There will be more detailed instructions on how to order and how it will work the night of each event.   • Walt Disney World offering direct Bus Transportation to Typhoon Lagoon from select Disney Resorts

    For the first time in forever, Walt Disney World will offer direct bus transportation from select resorts to Typhoon Lagoon Water Park this summer. Walt Disney World have revealed that direct bus transportation will be available to Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon water park from select Walt Disney World Resort hotels this summer. Traditionally, any guest staying at a Walt Disney World resort property that wanted to visit Typhoon Lagoon had to get a bus to Disney Springs, and then transfer to another bus to the water park. Now for a limited time, guests staying at select resorts will be able to travel directly by bus to Typhoon Lagoon. The resorts are: Disney’s All-Star Music Resort Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort Disney’s Art of Animation Resort Disney’s Caribbean Beach Resort Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort Disney’s Pop Century Resort This service is only available until early September, plus any guests staying at other resorts will still have to get a bus to Disney Springs and transfer to Typhoon Lagoon.
