- El Cilantrillo expands its footprint, opening new restaurant in East Orlando
El Cilantrillo Restaurant, one of the region's best-known Puerto Rican dining brands and Central Florida's largest Puerto Rican-owned restaurant has invested $450,000 in the project, employing approximately 70 people. El Cilantrillo Restaurant, Central Florida’s premier Puerto Rican dining destination, has opened the doors to a new Orlando location at Rio Pinar Plaza, 431 South Chickasaw Trail. With four full-service locations in the region, the beloved island eatery is the largest locally-owned Puerto Rican restaurant group in the Greater Orlando area. “Every new door we open carries the same love and tradition our family brought to our first location almost a decade ago,” said owner Hiram Turull. “Seeing El Cilantrillo grow into the largest locally-owned Puerto Rican restaurant group is a dream realized with hard work and passion to share our culture. We can’t wait to welcome our extended family to Rio Pinar Plaza on June 18.” The new restaurant will consolidate operations with the 2500 S Semoran Blvd. El Cilantrillo location while addressing long-standing challenges at the older store, such as limited guest capacity and scarce parking. “The decision to consolidate and fold the older, smaller store into this fantastic new prototype was driven by our goal to improve the overall guest experience,” said co-owner Dianne Turull. “We want our guests to know that we’ve heard them. Our new store will offer the same great food and exceptional service that has made El Cilantrillo their favorite destination for Puerto Rican cuisine in a more comfortable, spacious, and vibrant environment.” Discover the latest food and drink news from Central Florida. A $450,000 investment supports the development of the 4,470-square-foot restaurant that will serve a rapidly growing, high-density residential area with a median household income of $100,574, according to U.S. Census data. Located in Rio Pinar Plaza along Chickasaw Trail between Lake Underhill and Curry Ford Roads, in a space previously occupied by Keke’s Breakfast Cafe, the restaurant has a capacity of 154 guests, with indoor and outdoor seating, and features a stylish tropical design complete with a full-service bar. It will support a total workforce of about 70 employees, including new positions and employees transitioning from the S. Semoran Blvd. location, which will cease operations. The new location will continue to offer the brand’s signature favorites that have made El Cilantrillo a household name. Guests can look forward to dishes such as El Afrentao (a 14-pound shareable platter that combines a variety of seafood and meats with favorite Boricua sides), El Esmayao (an assortment of traditional Puerto Rican appetizers like sorullitos corn fritters, crispy popcorn chicken and tostones), El Parrandón (a shareable platter that includes chuleta kan kan, pork chop with a crispy fat layer, and churrasco), mofongos filled with a variety of proteins, deep-fried snapper (chillo frito) and several rice dishes including the house’s signature cilantro rice. El Cilantrillo is a family-owned and operated business. Multiple members of the Turull family, including founders Hiram and Dianne Turull and all five of their adult children, are actively involved in the daily operations and long-term strategy of all five restaurants. The first El Cilantrillo store opened in Kissimmee in 2017. Further expansion plans include opening stores in other Florida cities and Puerto Rico in 2027. The family also owns Turull’s Kitchen and Bar and Nona’s Urban Pizza, as well as Don Turull Cafe, a premium Puerto Rican coffee brand. - Huey Magoo's launches All-American Celebration with Limited-Time Summer Offerings
Southern BBQ Entrees and Peach Lemonade celebrate America's 250th Birthday while bringing seasonal flavor to Summer Gatherings and Holiday Weekends. Orlando's Huey Magoo's, the rapidly growing fast-casual chicken tender brand known for serving only the best 3% of the chicken, is launching its All-American Celebration, a months-long tribute to America's upcoming 250th birthday. The celebration begins with three Southern BBQ entrees and Peach Lemonade, seasonal offerings inspired by the iconic flavors and occasions of summer. "As we looked at how to celebrate America's upcoming 250th birthday, we wanted to start with flavors that feel familiar, nostalgic and distinctly American," said Andy Howard, president and CEO of Huey Magoo's. "Southern BBQ and Peach Lemonade are both deeply connected to summertime traditions and the kinds of meals and gatherings that create lasting memories with family and friends." Available now through Sept. 20, Huey Magoo's introduces a new Southern BBQ sauce across three limited-time entrees that capture the essence of summer. As the first featured menu items in Huey Magoo's All-American Celebration, the Southern BBQ offerings draw inspiration from flavors long associated with summer gatherings and backyard cookouts. Guests can enjoy the Southern BBQ Sandwich, Southern BBQ Wrap and Southern BBQ Salad, each featuring Huey Magoo's premium chicken tenderloin, the new Southern BBQ sauce and crispy onions for added crunch and texture. The Southern BBQ Salad also includes a new BBQ Ranch dressing that offers a cool contrast to the smoky, tangy BBQ flavor. Beyond the featured entrees, guests can enjoy the new Southern BBQ sauce as a standalone dip or tossed with any order of chicken tenders or Tender Bites. The sauce also can be added to Huey Magoo's Family Meals, making it easy to bring the crowd-pleasing flavors of Southern BBQ to graduation parties, family gatherings, holiday weekends and other summer celebrations. The new BBQ Ranch is available as a standalone dip or dressing, giving guests even more ways to personalize their favorite Huey Magoo's menu items. Peach Lemonade joins the celebration as another distinctly summer-inspired offering. Also available through Sept. 20, the latest seasonal release in the brand's specialty handcrafted lemonade program blends the sweet, juicy flavor of ripe peaches with the bright tartness of lemonade. The refreshing drink is equally at home with a Southern BBQ Sandwich, a Family Meal shared with friends or any favorite Huey Magoo's order throughout the summer season. Additional themed offerings and experiences will be introduced throughout the year as part of Huey Magoo's All-American Celebration. - LEGO F1 to headline new thrill zone at LEGOLAND Florida's LEGO Festival 2026
Ready, set, build! LEGOLAND Florida Resort is bringing the excitement of race day to families this summer with the debut of LEGO F1 as the headline experience inside the all-new Thrill Zone during LEGOFestival 2026. LEGO Festival 2026 hits top speed as LEGOLAND Florida Resort reveals LEGO F1 will headline the Thrill Zone, becoming the first major IP partner to be announced for this year’s festival lineup. The ultimate celebration of play, LEGO Festival is built for kids to take the lead and designed to spark creativity, fuel imaginations and bring families together through interactive experiences. Taking center stage in the new Thrill Zone, the LEGO F1 experience will bring the buzz of a F1 Race Day to life with a full-throttle lineup of high-energy moments, hands-on racing builds, family pit crew challenges and surprise character appearances. Families will race against the clock to complete the fastest LEGO F1 pit stop tire change in the Brick Stop Challenge, working together to test their teamwork as an official pit crew around a LEGO F1 car. Shifting gears and bringing a whole new vibe to the pit lane is the Pit Lane Hype Show. This live, beat-driven drum and percussion experience is performed using only tools and snapping bricks, capturing the pulse of a race weekend and creating an unmissable family dance-along moment. For those who want to raise the competitive stakes, there’s also a chance to become race engineers for the day. Kids and grown-ups alike can design, build and race their own LEGO F1 brick vehicles, testing ideas to see if they can find that extra bit of speed for race day victory. “LEGO Festival is built for kids and powered by play. It’s a limited-time experience where creativity takes the lead and imaginations run wild,” said Brian Bacica, Vice President, LEGOLAND Florida Resort. “With LEGO F1headlining our new Thrill Zone, families can drive into the excitement of race day through this first-of-its-kind pit stop challenge. It’s fast, colorful and packed with feel-good fun for everyone from start to finish.” The Thrill Zone also shines a spotlight on F1 ACADEMY, a junior racing championship created to inspire the next generation of female talent, helping more girls see themselves in the world of motorsports and connect with F1 in a meaningful and empowering way. And because no race day is complete without a photo finish, guests will also have plenty of opportunities to capture picture-perfect moments throughout their day. From meeting LEGO pit crew characters, to stepping up for a winner’s photo, everyone can celebrate like champions and take home a memory worthy of the checkered flag. Running from July 20 to August 16, 2026, LEGO Festival will transform LEGOLAND Florida Resort into a full-scale celebration of imagination across five interactive zones: Music, Creative, Chill-Out, and the brand-new Thrill and Play Zones. As a bonus for families planning a visit, guests can currently save up to $100 on select Annual Passes, unlocking a full year of play plus access to LEGO Festival and other seasonal events.
