The men and women who work and serve on MacDill Air Force Base invite you to Tampa Bay AirFest 2024. Due to the event taking place on Easter Weekend, for the first time ever, the 2024 Tampa Bay AirFest will be held on a Friday and Saturday, so that you can enjoy AirFest, and keep your Easter Sunday. It is sure to be a Heart-Pounding Air Performances along with Family Friendly Activities for all the family. The show on Friday, March 29, and Saturday, March 30, 2024, the FREE event will feature an amazing variety of military and civilian flight performances, including The United States Air Force Air Demonstration Squadron, The Thunderbirds. This two-day event is your chance to get up close and personal with military/civilian aircraft and pilots! In addition to the Thunderbirds, AirFest will feature military performances by the C-17 Demo Team showcasing the C-17 Globemaster III, the most flexible cargo aircraft to enter the airlift force. The F-18 Rhino Demo Team will fly the F/A-18F Super Hornet in a 15 minute demonstration of the Navy’s workhorse carrier based fighter, and the Air Combat Command A-10 Thunderbolt II Demonstration Team will showcase the unique combat capabilities of the A-10 "Warthog." This lively event transports you to an island getaway in the sand, filled with vibrant music, Polynesian performances, and Hawaiian specialty drinks and food. Join Boxi Park in Lake Nona for a night in the tropics, at Luau at Boxi Park! Held in the sand at Boxi Park, guests will be transported to the tropics and be entertained by hula and fire knife dancers while listening to the sounds of Tahitian drums, guitars and ukuleles. Tickets give you access to the VIP Boxi Beach area and bar. Upon entry receive a welcome cocktail and lei. Save the date for the return of Dog Day in the Gardens with fun activities and great information from community pet organizations. Calling all dog lovers. Following the success of the first Dog Day in the Gardens last October, the event is returning this weekend to Leu Gardens. On Saturday, March 30, from 9 am - 3 pm, bring the whole family, including your loveable canine, for a stroll through the 50-acre Gardens at this springs Dog Day in the Garden. Each dog will receive a special goody bag with their very own Harry P. Leu Garden’s bandana, while supplies last. The Doggie Boutique will be open from 9 am - 12 pm. for shopping and information from local pet businesses, including hugging some adorable therapy dogs. Show off your pooch and enter them in one or all of the doggie contests: Best Dressed, Most Talented, and Best Kisser. Winners  and runners up will receive a cute pooch prize of toys and goodies. Registrations opens at 9 am. and contest times are as follows: Best Dressed 10 am. Most Talented 10:30 am. Best Kisser 11 am. General admission applies: $15/adult, $10/child, $5/dog, Free for children under 4, active military, and members. Event is rain or shine.
