From exploring exhibitions to participating in gallery programs and creative activities, Access for All invites the Orlando community to connect through art in an open, welcoming environment.

The Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) has announced its upcoming Access for All event on Thursday, January 15, offering free admission from 10 am to 8 pm. This event is a key part of OMA’s dedication to making art accessible to all. Thanks to the generous support of the Art Bridges Foundation, Access for All opens the museum’s doors to the entire community, fostering inclusivity and sparking creativity.
"As we kick off a new year, we are thrilled to continue making art accessible to everyone. With the support of the Art Bridges Foundation, our Access for All program offers the community the opportunity to explore the transformative power of art without barriers,” said Cathryn Mattson, CEO of OMA. “This is just the beginning of another year of inspiring experiences at the Orlando Museum of Art, and we can’t wait to welcome visitors old and new."

Events in the January 15 schedule include:
12 - 1 pm - Art Sandwiched In
Join artist Brittany Metz as she shares how her creative path led her from managing military-defense contracts to teaching art and ultimately building her own design practice. With honesty, humor, and an artist’s eye for transformation, she reflects on how each unexpected career shift shaped her voice, her work, and her approach to making a creative life. This talk offers encouraging insight for anyone seeking to blend art, business, and purpose into a meaningful, sustainable practice.
2:30 - 3:30 pm - Gallery Talk
Join us this month to learn more about select works from OMA’s permanent collection. Talk will focus on different artists and mediums that will invoke your curiosity.
3 - 8 pm - Collaborative Artmaking Event
Visitors are invited to participate in two collaborative projects that will become part of The Woman’s Table, an installation inspired by Judy Chicago’s The Dinner Party and presented by the Acquisition Trust of OMA in celebration of Women’s Month. The work will be on view March 3-6.
Project One: Create Dinner Runners with Artist Stella Arbelaéz Tascón
Guests will use hand-carved wood blocks featuring botanical designs such as leaves, flowers, and acorns to print onto fabric patches that will be incorporated into the final artwork. Participants may also create a print on paper to take home. Stations will demonstrate both traditional hand-printing techniques and the use of a modern portable press.
Project Two: Contribute to the Flooring Triangles
Visitors may write about a woman who inspires them and why. These reflections will become part of the installation’s flooring elements.
3:30 - 4:30 pm - Gallery Talk (Spanish)
5-7 p.m - Sketching in the Galleries
Drawing and sketching supplies will be available for artists of all ages to use. Museum goers can enjoy an evening at the museum and be inspired by artwork in the galleries.
7 pm - Highlights Tour
This docent-led tour provides opportunities for meaningful conversations with the entire family. Follow along with a docent as they take you from gallery to gallery, highlighting various works.

In addition, guests are encouraged to view the museum’s other current exhibitions, including Relationships: A Love for Collecting II – the second installment of the transformational 314-work donation from Dr. James Cottrell and Joseph Lovett – and the ongoing Echoes of the Ancient in Contemporary Voices exhibition. Every month, this exhibition features a new contemporary artwork by a selected local Hispanic or Latin American artist, displayed alongside the collection to foster fresh dialogue and provide new perspectives on regional art.

Also currently featured at OMA is This is Not a Toy. This exhibition showcases gifts and acquisitions from OMA permanent collection, featuring works that incorporate toys, games and amusement objects. The display is divided into two sections: the first is playful and optimistic, while the second reveals darker, more complex themes. The contrast between joy and gloom invites viewers to consider the artists' intentions and reflect on the dual nature of these objects. The exhibition encourages a balance between maintaining a childlike sense of wonder and being aware of deeper, more somber realities.
"With exhibitions like This is Not a Toy and Relationships: A Love for Collecting II, there’s something for everyone to engage with and reflect upon as we kick off 2026,” said Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon, chief curator at OMA. “It’s an exciting time to experience art, and we look forward to continuing to foster conversations that inspire and challenge perspectives.”
In addition to free admission, Access for All events offer guided tours and engaging gallery activities, giving visitors the chance to connect with art in diverse and meaningful ways. Everyone is invited to join and experience the beauty and inspiration of art in a welcoming and inclusive setting.
