- Rock Of Ages wows audiences in Winter Garden's Garden Theater as run is extended until March 12
Rock Of Ages has been rocking out at the Garden Theater in Winter Garden since it opened to rave reviews on January 25, and the live and loud production of the acclaimed musical has been so popular that the shows run has been extended from February 26, until March 12. The return of live performances to the theater is thanks to a partnership between the Garden Theater and local entertainment company Victory Productions. The success of Rock of Ages proves that the local community are hungry for quality performances at the theater. So much so that due to the overwhelming response at the box office, Victory Productions announced that Rock of Ages will now run through March 12. The two week extended run reflects the community's support for the show which features top names in entertainment and brings a welcome return of live performance back to the Garden Theatre, where Victory Productions are taking on the responsible for all aspects of the Garden Theatre’s shows, including programming, design, casting, rehearsals, costuming and set construction. Rock of Ages is just the first in a season of shows that Victory Productions is bringing to the theatre this year included, DreamGirls, Next To Normal, and Something Rotten. Plus, Victory is planning to bring even more high-quality performances to the Garden Theatre in addition to more limited engagements and specials. The curtain was raised on Rock of Ages at the Garden Theater on Wednesday, January 26, with the musical performing through February 26. Victory Productions commented "This incredible group of performers are fearless in their pursuit of art, tenacious in their creative endeavors, and a family of supportive professionals. They stand alongside a mind blowing rockin’ band, a resilient technical and venue operational staff that can face any challenge head-on, and a creative team that took an idea and delivered a production that stands head to head with any Broadway show. Thank you to everyone that supported us on this project. The journey is just beginning, and we couldn’t be more excited for what lies ahead." Rock of Ages takes you back to the time of big bands with big egos playing big guitar solos, and sporting even bigger hair! This five-time Tony Award-nominated Broadway musical features the hits of bands Night Ranger, REO Speedwagon, Pat Benatar, Twisted Sister, and more. The high energy show features an all-star and very talented cast, including American Idol Bo Bice, The Voice finalist Omar Cardona, and Broadway stars Justin Sargent and Diana Huey, Just in case you are not familiar with Rock of Ages, the storyline starts at the tail end of the big, bad 1980s in Hollywood, and the party has been raging hard. Aqua Net, Lycra, lace, and liquor flow freely at one of the Sunset Strips’ last legendary venues, where egotistic rock star Stacee Jaxx takes the stage, and scantily clad groupies line up to turn their fantasies into reality. Amidst the madness, aspiring rock star Drew longs to take the stage as the next big thing (and longs for small-town girl Sherrie, fresh off the bus from Kansas with stars in her eyes). But the rock ‘n’ roll fairy-tale is about to end when German developers sweep into town with plans to turn the fabled Strip into just another capitalist strip mall. Can Drew, Sherri, and the gang save the Strip – and themselves – before it’s too late? Rock of Ages is a big, energetic tribute to the classic rock of the ‘80s, featuring all of your favorite rock anthems and power ballads, including: “We’re Not Going to Take It,” “Waiting for a Girl Like You,” “The Final Countdown,” “Every Rose Has Its Thorn,” and “Don’t Stop Believin’.” Rock of Ages is at the Garden Theatre through March 12, and it's definitely a show worth seeing! Tickets are available on the Garden Theater website. UPDATE: Reservations for Roundup Rodeo BBQ are now available! Lots of folks wake up early this morning to make reservations for their posse as reservations opened for the soon to open Roundup Rodeo BBQ restaurant at Disney's Hollywood Studios which officially opens March 23, 2023. Sadly things appear not have gone to plan, just as we announced that reservations were available, we started to get reports on our social media channels that people were unable to get a reservation. Once we started to investigate the issue, it appears that Walt Disney World had only made limited reservations available, with perhaps only the opening date for reservations, March 23, available! Some guests say that they have been able to make a successful reservations, but the overall majority were unable to make a reservation due to no availability for the date and time they were trying to book. Then is appears that Disney knew something was wrong, as just over an hour after reservations opened, the Walt Disney World website and My Disney Experience app were updated to remove the button that allowed guests to make reservations, not only for Roundup Rodeo BBQ, but for ALL restaurants at the resort. - Watch out for Smoke On The Water as Deep Purple take to the stage at Dr Phillips Center on Tuesday
Legendary English rock band Deep Purple take to the stage tomorrow night, Tuesday, February 21 at Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts here in Orlando. They will be joined on stage by special guests The Marshall Tucker Band. Part of the legendary “Unholy Trinity of British Hard Rock and Heavy Metal” along with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath, Deep Purple helped introduce and style, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal in the early 70's. Deep purple's discography is extensive with many hits including Perfect Strangers, Hush, Child in Time, 'Burn, Woman From Tokyo', Into the Fire, Fireball', Speed King' and perhaps their best loves song, Smoke On The Water, a song often listed as having one of the best guitar riffs of all time. Tickets are still available for tomorrow nights concert, with tickets priced from $59.50. With a body of work spanning seven decades, Deep Purple has helped pioneer and define the hard rock genre while progressively moving into new areas, both keeping their sound fresh and attracting new fans to the legions who have remained loyal since the band’s inception. Known as one of the hardest working bands ever, Purple has released 6 studio albums since 1996 alone and has toured globally since forming in 1968 with little rest. Purple has stayed true to its musical roots taking from an eclectic mix of styles to create a distinctive sound that defines the band today, but which in turn, has created a legacy that very few bands could ever hope to replicate. The band has written and produced so many “classic,” well-known songs, that Purple’s audience therefore ranges widely in age and background – something the band has embraced and caters to with its concert setlists.

- Disney Genie+ SELLS OUT for the Second Day in a row at Walt Disney World!
Yesterday we reported that huge crowds had descended on Walt Disney World for President's Day Weekend, resulting in a high volume of guests paying for the skip the line Genie+ service to bypass the long wait times for rides and attractions. This resulted in Genie+ selling out yesterday for the first time since Genie+ was introduced to the resort, and this was despite Disney inflating the cost of the variable priced Genie+ to all-time high of $29. Now today, President's Day, Monday, February 20, Genie+ has now sold out for a second day! According to the Walt Disney World App, all four theme parks indicate that “purchase of Disney Genie+ Service is no longer offered for today.” Once a sellout occurs, sales of Genie+ will NOT resume until the following day at 12.01 am Disney introduced variable pricing for Genie+ towards the end of 2022, allowing the company to raise or lower the price depending on demand, so obviously with the parks being so busy this President's Day weekend, Disney have increased the price of the variable priced Genie+ to an all time high. The price of the service today was set at $29, reaching the all-time high set during the peak 2022 holiday season. Since being introduced, the lowest price has been $15, with the peak being $29.
- Narcoossee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort is reopening on April 1, check out the new menu now
Walt Disney Word has shared exciting news, as it's been revealed that Narcoossee’s will be reopening on April 1 over at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa! Narcoossee’s at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will once again welcome guests for culinary delights in its newly reimagined space. This signature dining restaurant with its spectacular panoramic views, is a staple of the resort, with its waterside location, and over the past several months has seen an enhanced interior revamp as well as a refreshed menu crafted by Chef Noah Estabrook and Pastry Chef Kristine Farmer in a perfect balance of updated classics and new epicurean delights. The new space incorporates the concept of “land and sea” and that’s exactly what the culinary teams drew inspiration from when developing the new menu. Upon sitting down for your meal, you’ll be greeted with a recipe created by Chef Kristine specially for this location – an Artisan Boule of Sourdough made with a perfectly toasty crust and baked daily in the Grand Floridian Resort & Spa bakery. As you enter your first course, you’ll continue to be met with masterfully crafted dishes. For years, the Bisque has been a mainstay on the menu, so flavor connoisseurs will be thrilled to see it return, but now with an enhanced tableside presentation. The culinary team has also created two new starters. First up, the Beef and Ricotta Tortelloni accompanied by luscious brown butter, parsnip puree, and sultana raisins. Next, the Ocean-inspired Charcuterie Board is a fresh take on a classic featuring ahi tuna pastrami, charred octopus, and house-made sausage from the sea. This plate is a true collaboration, with each component representing the style of a different chef on the Narcoossee’s team. Moving on to the main course of your dining experience, the team has sourced sustainable seafood from both local waters and around the globe, including Chef Noah’s signature dish, the Blackened Redfish. This meal is served with a crispy chorizo-sunchoke hash with hominy, Florida sweet corn, and red pepper rouille. What makes this fish a standout is the secret blend of blackened spice which has been passed down from chef to chef of the location, with each culinary mastermind finding their own unique way to feature it on the menu. Plant-based diners will be delighted with the Roasted Vegetable Paella featuring market vegetables, cannellini beans, and preserved artichoke finished with charred Meyer lemon. Those looking for land-based fare will savor the new Dry-Aged Pork Ribeye Chop served with creamy goat cheese-potato pave and turnips with onion jam and a touch of fig jus. Of course, chef has kept Narcoossee’s guest favorites like the Plancha-seared Scallops with Parisian Gnocchi and Surf and Turf featuring tender filet mignon and butter-poached lobster tail on the menu for new and returning guests to indulge in. The dessert course also features a favorite that has garnered near legendary status over the years amongst diners of Narcoossee’s – Chef Kristine’s incredible Almond-crusted Cheesecake with Lambert cherry sauce and Chantilly cream. When developing the new additions to the dessert menu, the pastry team was inspired by bright flavors that really complement the overall experience. The Berry Pavlova, for instance, is artfully crafted with Florida fresh berries and citrus delicately placed over meringue and yuzu crémeux and finished with a tableside pour of anglaise. The Pineapple Bavarois is truly a work of art with a roasted-pineapple center and house-made blackberry-buttermilk ice cream. These dishes make for a perfect and sweet finish to a memorable evening. This waterfront hideaway is the ideal spot to wind down with a fabulous cocktail or zero-proof beverage. The wine list has been refreshed to reflect a diverse portfolio of varietals, with Proprietor Matt Cristi and the sommeliers on his team available to help you create the perfect pairing for each dish. Our team of mixologists have also thoughtfully curated a new cocktail program, inspired by the Victorian era. A must-try is the signature Empress Lime Gimlet, a modern twist on a classic gimlet with Empress Gin, Rockey’s Botanical Liqueur, and cold-pressed lime. The reopening of Narcoossee’s comes as part of the multi-year transformation of Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, honoring its rich history at the Walt Disney World Resort while enhancing its iconic Victorian charm and elegance. Reservations will open for this grand return on March 1, and we look forward to welcoming you back starting April 1 to this enhanced experience destined to become a new favorite!
- Tampa Riverwalk has been named one of the best riverwalks in America
Tampa Riverwalk has been named one of the best riverwalk's in the country, beaten only by Detroit's International RiverWalk. In the 2023 USA Today's10Best Reader’s Choice Travel Awards, Tampa Riverwalk has received second place in America’s Best Riverwalks category. A shortlist of 20 of the leading riverwalk's across the country was decided by a panel of experts working with 10Best’s editorial team, with the winners determined by a public vote. Over the last several years, many cities in the United States have reworked their riverfront areas, transforming them into vibrant spaces for outdoor recreation, nightlife, cultural activity and scenic views, and Tampa Riverwalk is a leading example of this rejuvenation. Tampa's Riverwalk has its origins in the 1970's, when much of the downtown waterfront consisted of aging warehouses and industrial facilities related to the nearby Port of Tampa. Tampa mayor Bill Poe conceived the idea of a park and walkway behind Curtis Hixon Hall, a civic center along the Hillsborough River that was one of the few public spaces in the area.[ The city built a short stretch of boardwalk on the east side of the river behind the Hall, but a lack of funds to buy adjoining properties and subsequent mayors' disinterest in the project paused further construction. Tampa renewed its push to revitalize its "desolate" downtown in the mid-1980's, and over the next decade, obsolete Curtis Hixon Hall was replaced by a riverside park and the Tampa Convention Center, Amalie Arena, and the Florida Aquarium were constructed with mostly public funds along the waterfront. “We're grateful to everyone who voted and it was truly an honor to be nominated alongside some amazing cities and riverwalks,” said MaryBeth Williams, executive director of Friends of the Riverwalk, the privately funded nonprofit organization that helps develop, activate and promote the Tampa Riverwalk. “Our vision is for the Tampa Riverwalk to be America’s iconic riverwalk and we are on our way to seeing that vision materialize. We hope this inspires people from all over the U.S. to include the Tampa Riverwalk in their travel plans and see for themselves what our amazing our city has to offer.” In selecting Tampa Riverwalk, the USA Today's10Best travel experts highlighted Tampa Riverwalk for it's ability to connect the businesses, parks and museums along the riverfront. They also noted that the riverwalk serves as a central spot for performances, art, leisure and fitness activities. with plenty of places to stop and enjoy along the way, from restaurants to museums, not to mention the scenery.
