All theme park water parks will be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, Ma4ch 15 due to expected cold temperatures expected across Central Florida. Blizzard Beach at Walt Disney World, Aquatica at SeaWorld Orlando, and Volcano Bay at Universal Orlando will all be closed tomorrow, Wednesday March 15. Tomorrow will see mostly sunshine, bar a few passing clouds, but the main story is the temps, with temperatures only reaching a expected high of 69F, with nighttime lows of only 48F. The good news is that Thursday should see all three water parks reopening, with the temperatures quickly rebounding, with temps to rise into the high 70's with Friday temps back into the 80's. Walt Disney World have revealed that an all new retail experience, the TRON Identity Program will launch April 4 in the former Tomorrowland Light and Power Co gift shop, which has now been renamed Tomorrowland Launch Depot. The brand new TRON Identity Program offers guests a customizable Program action figure and identity chip that can be used to re-program other merchandise such as the interactive Identity Discs and Remote Control Lightcycles! Prepare to enter the Grid through a Grid Digitization Portal located in the new Tomorrowland Launch Depot. Once inside, you will be able to create an action figure, or Program, that looks and sounds just like you. How cool does this sound? It's definitely going to be popular!! Scroll down for more details. As a User, you will go through the customization process. Image Capture will scan your facial features. Then, you’ll select your helmet and body configuration. Will your Program be an Enforcer or a Combatant? A Scout or a Heavy Sentry? The choice is yours. Also, don’t forget to select a team color. Finally, you’ll visit Command Input, where you will record 6 lines of dialogue in your own voice. You will have 20 minutes to make your selections. Greetings, Programs! Walt Disney World have given us a first look at the awesome merchandise for TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise. This thrilling new attraction officially opens at Magic Kingdom Park at Walt Disney World Resort on April 4, 2023. Users who venture into the Grid need to be prepared with the proper gear. Here's a first look at TRON Lightcycle / Run merch that will be available only at Magic Kingdom Park starting 4/4! Users who venture into the Grid will find three merchandise collections, related to the attraction experience, the film “TRON: Legacy” or the nostalgia around this digital world first introduced in 1982 with the release of the original “TRON.” “There are generations of guests now visiting Walt Disney World who grew up playing the TRON video games and imagining their bicycles were Lightcycles,” explained Taryn Johnson, Senior Manager for Brand Merchandising with Global Product Creation. “These collections have a dash of 1980s nostalgia mixed with incredibly fun items that continue the thrills of this new Tomorrowland attraction at home.” One of the collections is “Back to the Arcade,” which captures a slice of the early 1980s arcade scene complete with nods to Flynn’s Arcade from the original film. Elements from video game cabinets were turned into backpacks and illuminated wall signs. The tumbler even includes vintage Lightcycles that race around a domed top. Lightcycles are fast two-wheeled vehicles on the Grid, akin to motorcycles in the “real” world. This was the jumping-off point for the “Thrill of the Race” collection which contains racing-inspired apparel for adults and kids. The team even created a light-up replica of Sam Flynn’s helmet as seen in “TRON: Legacy” using the original costume piece as reference. This helmet is the perfect finishing touch to my own “TRON: Legacy” costume. A separate decorative helmet bag is an excellent carrying case for this or any other racing helmet. For those that want to continue racing Lightcycles after visiting the Grid, check out the TRON Lightcycle Handlebars. This interactive toy contains lights and sound effects from TRON and can turn into an interactive game for up to four players. Life on the Grid is replicated with a third merchandise collection inspired by the clean design language of this digital world. Adults will find light-up jackets and other accessories like a backpack that holds a new interactive Identity Disc that doubles as an audio speaker (now I can listen to the incredible “TRON: Legacy” soundtrack everywhere I go!). One of the most impressive parts of this collection is the TRON Identity Program, an all-new retail experience. It offers guests a customizable “Program” action figure and identity chip that can be used to “re-program” other merchandise such as the interactive Identity Discs and Remote Control Lightcycles. Reservations for this interactive experience can be made beginning March 21 by visiting disneyworld.disney.go.com/shops/magic-kingdom/tron-identity-program/. When TRON Lightcycle / Run opens on April 4, guests will find these products and more in a specially designed pop-up shop area directly across from the Monsters Inc. It’s the merchandise shop located between the entrances to TRON Lightcycle / Run and Space Mountain. I love this feature as it’s easy to use and saves time as you scan items as you shop and pay from your phone. The City of Orlando’s Downtown Development Board/Community Redevelopment Agency has just announced a new and improved Downtown Ambassador Program. Downtown Orlando has changed providers for the Downtown Ambassador program to a new provider, Allied Universal, with the new program promising the same services, and more. The Ambassadors will still be out and about the downtown area seeking ways to create a memorable and welcoming experience for everyone visiting our vibrant city center. Ambassadors will be working closely with the Orlando Police and Fire Departments as well as the Health Care Center for the Homeless HOPE Team to help provide enhanced public safety assistance.. And that’s not all, Ambassadors will also be working with the Clean Team to support a cleaner environment through communication efforts and trash pick-up. The Downtown Ambassador Program was launched in 2018 to provide on-the-street service for visitors and residents between the hours of 7 an and 11 pm, in part to help visitors navigate the downtown core during larger events but also to help connect the most vulnerable individuals to critical social services and curbing aggressive panhandling. The new blue-clad squad of 22 Downtown Ambassadors will now provide additional services outside of their original scope, specifically for homeless individuals, including: Resource Connection – Downtown Ambassadors partner with local service providers who can assist those experiencing homelessness with immediate critical social services, such as shelter, identification, and counseling services, as well as handing out information and needed supplies. Reunification – Downtown Ambassadors are able to assist those experiencing homelessness and reconnect them with friends and family by means of providing transportation, whether that is through a bus ticket, train ticket, or other immediate modes of transportation to help them get housed. Recording through Data Collection – Downtown Ambassadors will be utilizing the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) integrated with the Homeless Services Network of Central Florida to help record each encounter and match the individuals’ needs with resources to provide a continuum of care.
