Orlando's Florida Theatrical Association has announced that it will presents Kiss of the Spider Woman in Concert at The Abbey in downtown Orlando for four performances, November 9 –12. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical, Kiss Of The Spider Woman explores the complex relationship between two men caged together in a Latin American prison for very different reasons. The University Club of Orlando which has been apart of downtown Orlando since opening in 1926, has closed its doors forever. What originally started on the 10th floor of the historic Angebilt Hotel in 1926, as a group of college graduates wanting to extend the camaraderie of fraternity life, The University Club of Orlando has become one of the cities oldest organizations. For nearly 100 years, The University Club of Orlando has been an invitation only, private member club, a popular meeting place for the great and the good of Orlando. Now in surprising news, the club, which has most recently been located at 150 East Central Blvd Orlando has closed it doors yesterday, Friday, September 15. 2023. The news was shared by the member-owned, club president, Michael Lane in a message to members. Lane cited the knock on effects of the club having to close during the Covid-19 pandemic as the main reason for the closure, together with a declining membership. Lane commented, "Since the building opened, then closed because of Covid restrictions, then reopened, we have struggled to build the membership population we needed to operate. The lack of membership had a direct impact on our financial health and after a long battle, we do not have the funds to operate." The University Club moved into its current location at East Central Blvd as part of a deal that saw the club sell its original building at 125 E. Pine Street to a developer. As part of the deal, they opened the current clubhouse in 2019, including full-service dining room and bar, sports courts, and a gym. The facility is described in the club's website as a "4-story, world class club is not just a meeting space but a place for personal wellness, 5-star dining and a personal satellite workspace." Great news for “Dancing with the Stars” fans, as a special, limited-time DWTS event is taking place at Disney Springs to celebrate the return of the popular reality show. The new season of "Dancing With the Stars" is set to premiere this fall, and to celebrate the reveal of the season 32 cast which includes some major new players in the ballroom including Jamie Lynn Spears and "Vanderpump Rules" star Ariana Madix a nightly special event is taking place at the Orange Garage Stage at Disney Springs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 2, 2023. Leading the charge will be a fantastic DJ setting the mood and a team of professional dancers, who won’t just be showcasing their incredible talent, but also guiding and teaching some killer dance moves. By the end of the night, you’ll be impressing your friends and family with your newly acquired dance moves. Close to the stage, a custom photo op area has been set up. In a last minute change to tonights Eat to the Beat Concert Series at EPCOT, Monsieur Periné will no longer be performing, with the slot now being taken by Raul Acosta & Oro Solido. One of the most anticipated and beloved holiday events in Central Florida is returning for another year of magic at the Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens. The Central Florida Zoo & Botanical Gardens has revealed that the dazzling displays of Asian Lantern Festival: Into the Wild will return on select nights from November 17, 2023, to January 14, 2024. “We’re thrilled to offer those in Central Florida the opportunity to enjoy this spectacular event for a fourth time. Almost every lantern is new again this year,” said CEO Richard E. Glover, Jr. “This is a cornerstone event for us at the Central Florida Zoo, and it truly is a community event. Collaborating with Publix again makes this year’s event even more special.” The festival features dozens of larger-than-life, hand-crafted lanterns that are lit by thousands of LED lights, resulting in a gorgeous display of color, light and sound that celebrates traditional Asian lantern festivals. The lanterns are situated on a 3/4-mile loop around the Zoo, providing a truly unique take on a holiday lights show that will leave attendees clamoring to come back again and again with friends and family. This is the fourth year for the festival, which started in 2019 and was not held in 2020. When the event returned, the Zoo hit capacity almost every night. The Orlando Magic got their swagger back as team introduce new 2023 - 24 retro uniform. The Orlando Magic are celebrating the team’s 35th season in the NBA by unveiling a new classic uniform. The 2023-24 Classic Edition uniform celebrates the team’s 35th anniversary by bringing fans back in time and tapping into some fan-favorite memories. The uniform is a replica of the style worn by the Magic from 1998-2003, paying homage to the beloved Heart and Hustle era. The jersey features the retro Magic wordmark across the chest, which immediately conjures up a feeling of nostalgia for long-time Magic fans. One of the most iconic symbols for the Magic is the star, used both in the wordmark, and in the background pattern. The old-school look is locked in with pinstripes up and down each side.
