- Cinnabon & Quiet Flight closing at Universal CityWalk Orlando - Rumored to be replaced with Super Nintendo World Store!
Big changes appear to be coming to Universal CityWalk Orlando with popular stores closing, and exiting new ones rumored to be replacing them! Two long-time favorites at Universal CityWalk Orlando are set to close, with rumors swirling of exciting new additions. Universal Orlando Resort has revealed that Quiet Flight Surf Shop and Cinnabon will close permanently this month to make way for new experiences. Quiet Flight’ Surf Shop's last day of operation will be April 14, with Cinnabon’s last day of operation on April 28. It's not all bad news for Cinnabon fans though, as rumors point to a brand new Cinnabon kiosk coming to UniversalCityWalk close to Margaritaville, with the tasty treats temporarily available from Fresh Eats until the new kiosk opens. Plus you can find Cinnabon located in Port of Entry in Universal Islands of Adventure. While Universal have not revealed what is to replace Quiet Flight Surf Shop and Cinnabon, rumors online point to a Super Nintendo World retail location taking over the spaces, as an expansion of the Universal Studios Store. This would see the Quiet Flight Surf Shop and Cinnabon space combined with the Universal Studios Store allowing for a wide selection of Super Nintendo World merch to be featured ahead of the new Super Nintendo World land opening at Epic Universe next year. In addition to a Super Nintendo World retail location, rumors for this space include a Butterbeer bar, and a candy store. This is in addition to the confirmed new interactive Epic Universe preview center that is set to open in the now shuttered Universal Legacy Store. - Movie Trash at The Nook presents an Ed Wood Double Feature!
Movie Trash at The Nook presents a double feature of sci-fi classics, Bride of the Monster and Plan Nine From Outer Space. On Saturday, April 6 at 8 pm, Movie Trash at The Nook located at 2432 E. Robinson St, Orlando presents an ED WOOD DOUBLE FEATURE! Edward D. Wood, Jr found the fame he was always chasing after his death… in 1980 (in the book The Golden Turkey Awards by Michael Medved) his film Plan Nine From Outer Space was declared the worst movie ever made. Not only is that not true, even if it were that would not be a bad thing for us! So, Movie Trash at The Nook wants to honor the wildly underappreciate auteur with a double feature of some of his most mainstream sci-fi classics, Bride of the Monster and Plan Nine From Outer Space. With a whole cast of character actors who were also his friends, not least of whom was Bela Legosi, these films show that you can make a milllion dollar movie for $300 and a dream…. and it is only a little bit noticeable. Come on out and see some movies that you have probably seen be the punchlone for decades and you didn't even know it! So, see you at The Nook, bring a chair if you have one (we have seating, but it is limited). As with all Movie Trash at The Nook screenings, it is free and open to the public. However, if you’d like to throw Orlando Pop-Up Movie Services a few bucks in the tip jar, that would be amazing. Note that due to scheduling conflicts Movie Trash at The Nook will be on the first Saturday this month. If it's happening in Orlando you Gotta Go Orlando! - Tiana's Bayou Adventure Attraction Poster and even more Critters revealed for Walt Disney World!
Meet Meet Octavia, Pawpaw, Claude, Bernadette, Sebastián and Phina, who join the already revealed Byhalia, Gritty, Beau, Apollo, Rufus, and Timoléon, the new critters you can find in Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Walt Disney World! Disney has revealed the Walt Disney World attraction poster for the currently under construction Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom. The colorful attraction poster features Tiana in her new adventure outfit with Tiana’s Palace, a Mansion, and the new attraction featuring the Tiana’s Foods Water Tower behind her. The attraction poster also features some of the new critters musicians, together with fireflies, Louis, and Mama Odie Now that we have seen the attraction poster, ready to head back into the bayou and discover more new Disney characters who are part of Tiana’s Bayou Adventure? Walt Disney World have introduced even more of the critter musicians from the new attraction, the perfect musical accompaniment for Princess Tiana’s party during Mardi Gras season! Previously, you learned about the critters who play Zydeco music – and now, let’s get ready to march with Rara! Often found at festivals and street processions, Rara is a musical tradition from Haiti that’s part of the musical history and melting pot of New Orleans. The genre includes unique instruments with beautiful, distinctive sounds. Here are the Rara musicians announced today, that you’ll discover further down the bayou! Octavia the Bobcat – Octavia plays the vaksin, a single-note horn instrument popular in Rara music. She’s an adventurous bobcat kitten, and she loves climbing and hanging out in trees almost as much as she loves performing. This daredevil almost never gets scared. Pawpaw the Bobcat – Not only is Pawpaw Octavia’s devoted grandfather, but he also taught her how to play the vaksin! Pawpaw lives to make Octavia smile and has the view that everything has a way of working itself out – he’s seen it all but isn’t jaded. Claude the Louisiana Black Bear – Claude is a salt of the earth kind of bear (or, as they say in the bayou, “salt of the mound”) who plays his horn along with the other members of his family. He’s a tinkerer who loves to create with things found in the forest, and is frequently funny without intending to be, especially when it comes to his home-grown creations. Bernadette the Louisiana Black Bear – Bernadette loves to enjoy life, from splashing in the waters of her bayou home with her cub, Sebastián, to playing the horn with her mate, Claude. She’s a clear thinker and is warm and supportive. Bernadette loves to sink into the bayou waters and munch on plants (so long as Sebastián is clearly within sight). Sebastián the Louisiana Black Bear – Though he’s definitely a “mama’s cub,” Sebastián charted his own musical course as a drummer, despite his parents being devoted horn players. He’s happy to follow his friend Octavia’s adventurous lead as they explore and play, and is fascinated with the small details in the bayou, like the insects and mushrooms. Phina the Gray Fox – Phina’s enthusiasm extends beyond her drumming, as she’s constantly thinking of new ideas with optimism and energy! This imaginative fox is continually starting new projects with excitement, and her friends accept and celebrate her unique thinking. As we mentioned earlier, Walt Disney World have already revealed some of the new characters coming to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure this summer in Walt Disney World. Check them out... In the first critter encounter, we’ll discover a group of critter musicians playing a rendition of one of our favorite songs from “The Princess and the Frog,” “Gonna Take You There.” This raucous Zydeco musical recipe of fiddle, accordion, washboard, and other instrument voices will have you singing along as you float down the river under dancing fireflies. The familiar melody is being played on charming makeshift instruments constructed from natural materials and some human-made found objects. But who’s behind this critter band? Meet some of the adorable musicians and get to know them a little more. Beau the Opossum – Seeing limitless possibilities, no one finds more wonder in the bayou and the sounds of zydeco music than Beau. All she knows is beauty, especially her own. You can find her plucking out the low notes with her upright gourd bass, which of course, involves some musical dexterity with her tail. Timoléon the Otter – He’s the eldest of the band, but Timoléon’s fiddle-playing is inspired by all the ‘kids’ he spends his time around while in the bayou. When he’s not sawing out a jig, he’s famous for telling stories of days long ago about his explorations of every corner of the bayou. Apollo the Raccoon – Apollo loves transforming abandoned objects into works of musical art – like his squeezebox. He’s full of energy and storytelling, especially about the objects he finds in the bayou. He’s particularly close with Rufus and appreciates Rufus’ calm demeanor. Gritty the Rabbit – Always willing to dig a little deeper to help others, Gritty plays the washboard (a found automobile license plate) with a high-energy flair. It’s the perfect instrument for someone who’s often overzealous and digs to relieve her nerves. Byhalia the Beaver – Byhalia doesn’t just build dams; she helps build musical instruments using natural materials from the bayou. As a strong-willed percussionist, it’s safe to say Byhalia is the heartbeat of the band, as well as a natural designer and engineer. Rufus the Turtle – Rufus may be a turtle, but he’s quick to jump into rhythm with his harmonica. He’s also the first to join in on new adventures! He’s genuine and sincere but may come across as a little sarcastic at times with his habitual sighing. Rufus loves going on adventures with Apollo. And, if you wish you had a critter friend of your own, you are in luck: Beau, Apollo and Rufus will soon be available in the form of huggable plushies for you to take home. PLUS, even more critters will be revealed next week!! We are now closer than ever to the opening Tiana’s Bayou Adventure this summer here in Magic Kingdom Park, are you excited to experience this new attraction replacing the classic Splash Mountain attraction at Walt Disney World! - No new nightclubs in Downtown Orlando for another 6 months as city extends moratorium on nightclubs again
Don't expect any new nightclubs in downtown Orlando for another six months, following yet another extension of the ban on new nightclub opening in downtown! The City of Orlando has yet again extended a moratorium on downtown nightclubs that prevents any new nightclubs from opening in downtown. The original moratorium that was introduced on March 20, 2023 to improve safety and address negative effects caused by the nightclubs in the downtown area was set to expire on September 20 last year, but was extended for an additional six months until March 20, 2024. Now, following another vote by Orlando City Council, commissioners voted unanimously to extend the ban for yet another six months until Sept. 20, 2024. The ordinance temporarily restricts the city from accepting, processing and deciding on applications for new permits and zoning approvals for nightclubs in the downtown area. Orlando city commissioners say that they require the 6 month extension as more time is needed for city staff to research potential changes to city code that would better regulate nightclubs. in the downtown area. It is believed that the city is looking at the regulation of alcoholic beverages, and/or changing the cities land development codes to achieve their aims of creating a safer downtown at night. Whatever they decide, just don't expect any new clubs for at least another six months. For the latest news from Orlando and throughout Central Florida with our Daily Orlando News. Things To know Before Visiting Gideon’s At Disney Springs! Gideon’s Bakehouse is a popular single-owner small business based in Orlando that has gained international attention when it opened it's location at Disney Springs. It can get pretty crazy at the Disney Springs store with people waiting for hours to get their hands on a prized Gideon's near half pound cookie! To help you get enjoy lots of yummy Gideon's goodness, the bakery have shared some helpful information based on an average day to set an expectation and help you plan. The bakery opens at 10 am, but the line typically begins to form at 9 am, when the parking garage opens. Once the bakery opens, when the line gets too long, they switch to a Virtual Queue. This allows you to go anywhere while waiting for a return text. On weekdays the Virtual Queue can start anytime from open to evening or not at all, depending on crowds. On weekends and holidays it can happen right at 10am. After receiving your text, you will check in at the end of the return line. It looks scary but is typically no more than a 15-minute wait. For international guests, we will give you a return time if you can’t receive texts. Sign up for the queue must be done in person. When active, you will find Gideon's staff to the right of the front door under the protection of Gideon's Gargoyle. Plan for wait times of around two hours. For busy days (Friday through Sunday, holidays, holiday seasons), the virtual queue averages five hours. The earlier you arrive, the shorter the wait and the better the selection since limited edition items will sell out. A general rule, if you know the parks are slammed, we’re slammed. On average, between 6 pm and 8 pm every day the virtual queue is active, and the waiting list will hit capacity. When this happens the bakery closes the queue to handle everyone on the list and to ensure the bakery closes on time. For the latest Orlando food and drink news, click here.
