- Raise a cone at Salt & Straw in Disney Springs with a limited-edition flight of delicious beer-based ice creams!
Cheers to Salt & Straw in Disney Springs who have unveiled their latest limited-time ice cream flavors for June, tapping five of the most amazing microbrewers in America for beer-based ice creams. The Disney Spring's scoop shop Salt & Straw has a pretty unique menu featuring 12 regular classic flavors as well as a rotating monthly menu that offers delicious seasonal specials, and this month is great news for beer lovers! The scoop shop is tapping five of the most amazing microbrewers in America for one incredible flight of delicious beer-based ice creams. From Seattle to Portland to Santa Rosa—and Miami to LA—these brewers keep their hometowns double- and triple-hopping with the best beers you've ever tasted. Salt & Straw has transformed their artistry into ice cream. So whatever your pleasure—porter, stout, lager, ale or hazy IPA—you're in for a pint to remember. Take one down and pass it around. For our 12th collaboration with Ben Edmunds at Portland's super-award-winning Breakside, we're rolling out their unique barrel-aged stout—which nobody but a couple 500-year-old Belgian breweries even dare attempt to make. We're steeping cocoa nibs in it for a couple days, then coating the nibs in chocolate, adding the leftover beer with cream and sugar, and swirling in rich tres leches cake with one of the leches replaced with, you guessed it, more stout. The chocolate malty taste gives you this triple intensity. Made with Portland's Breakside Barrel-Aged Stout Originally born in Cuba 150 years ago, La Tropical's La Original Ambar Lager is being brewed again in Miami and we couldn't be prouder to be compadres. The bready, graham-cracker-like profile of this amazing elixir took us on a flavor journey straight to the land of flan, where we followed the original, ancient recipe to create a sunny syrup capped with a succulent guava drizzle. Underlying notes of honey, perfectly balanced with noble hops, will make you raise your cone and cry "Viva La Tropical!" Made with Miami's La Tropical La Original Lager featuring Nugget, Idaho 7, Centennial and Amarillo Hops. Hitting a custom flavor homerun with Rodney Hines at last year's MLB All-Star game is just one of our happy collaborations with Seattle's Black-owned Métier. Next up: This celebration of his silky-smooth Black Stripe Coconut Porter and marvelous Marjorie's it's-outta-here bread pudding. After we cook the beer recipe into a rich, robust syrup and pour in a heavy splash of the porter, you slide home with little bites of crispy brioche toffee on top of gooey bread pudding. Grand slam. Made with Seattle's Métier Black Stripe Porter featuring Nugget and Idaho 7 Hops Let's be perfectly clear-ish: Henry Nguyen's Monkish Space Cookies is one cool LA beer, triple-hopped and made with vanilla wafers to create a kind of "stoner's IPA". It gets its iconic hazy profile from a sharp use of English yeast, and we dial it into focus with our own triple-hopping process—a little boiling, a little cold steeping, and a little steeping with Everclear. Pitch in a decent amount of beer with some fresh grapefruit zest and a swirl of 'nilla cookie butter. You'll be Monkish space case, too. Made with LA's Monkish Space Cookies & Cream Hazy IPA featuring Centennial and Amarillo Hops In our humble beer nerd community, Russian River Brewing is considered the best brewery in the world. It seems impossible that we even got to work with them, let alone make frozen yogurt with this particular beer. Supplication Ale is aged 12 months with dried cherries in Pinot Noir barrels, and when it comes out—once a year—we chase the beer truck down the street. That's why we're so excited to blend the taste of Supplication into a really light fudge, swirl it with a touch of manchego cheese, and add a ribbon of marmalade made with those same tart cherries. It's fresh, tangy, and calm-tasting—all things considered—and that beer fudge is the star of the show. Made with Santa Rosa's Russian River Supplication Ale. Salt & Straw Ice Cream is a Portland-based, family-run ice cream company that was founded in 2011 by cousins Kim & Tyler Malek. Salt & Straw makes unbelievably delicious ice creams that tell the narrative of artisans, meaningful food movements and important social causes. The company creates unique menus that rotate monthly featuring ice cream that is crafted with unthinkable care and designs a generous store experience that's personalized and welcoming. Salt & Straw at Disney Springs is open 10 am until 11.30 pm daily, and they even make their own fresh waffle cones in the scoop shop, and before you decide which flavor of ice cream yo want, you can sample the flavors for free! Things To know Before Visiting Gideon’s At Disney Springs! Gideon’s Bakehouse is a popular single-owner small business based in Orlando that has gained international attention when it opened it's location at Disney Springs. It can get pretty crazy at the Disney Springs store with people waiting for hours to get their hands on a prized Gideon's near half pound cookie! To help you get enjoy lots of yummy Gideon's goodness, the bakery have shared some helpful information based on an average day to set an expectation and help you plan. The bakery opens at 10 am, but the line typically begins to form at 9 am, when the parking garage opens. Once the bakery opens, when the line gets too long, they switch to a Virtual Queue. This allows you to go anywhere while waiting for a return text. On weekdays the Virtual Queue can start anytime from open to evening or not at all, depending on crowds. On weekends and holidays it can happen right at 10am. After receiving your text, you will check in at the end of the return line. It looks scary but is typically no more than a 15-minute wait. For international guests, we will give you a return time if you can’t receive texts. Sign up for the queue must be done in person. When active, you will find Gideon's staff to the right of the front door under the protection of Gideon's Gargoyle. Plan for wait times of around two hours. For busy days (Friday through Sunday, holidays, holiday seasons), the virtual queue averages five hours. The earlier you arrive, the shorter the wait and the better the selection since limited edition items will sell out. A general rule, if you know the parks are slammed, we’re slammed. On average, between 6 pm and 8 pm every day the virtual queue is active, and the waiting list will hit capacity. When this happens the bakery closes the queue to handle everyone on the list and to ensure the bakery closes on time. For the latest Orlando food and drink news, click here. - Tyler Childers opens for The Rolling Stones in Orlando, days before headline show in Tampa on his Mule Pull 24 Tour
Tyler Childers has an exciting week ahead, performing warm up duties for The Rolling Stones, before playing a solo show in Tampa on his Mule Pull 24 Tour, Acclaimed singer, songwriter and musician Tyler Childers is having a busy 2024, touring with his huge global Mule Pull '24 Tour, playing nultiple festivals, and opening for the Rolling Stones! This week, Childers will open for The Rolling Stones on the latest stop on their 2024 Hackney Diamonds Tour at Orlando's Camping World Stadium on Monday, June 3. Then two days later, Childers will headline his own show at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheater on Wednesday, June 5, performing his mix of traditional country, bluegrass, and folk. Special guest for the Tampa show will be Valerie June and Willi Carlisle, with tickets still available via Ticketmaster. Hailing from the Appalachian Mountains in Kentucky, Tyler Childers is part of a wave of 2010s Americana artists who prize authenticity both in their songs and sound. Sonically, he borrows heavily from the weathered, ornery progressive country records of the 1970s, a comparison brought into sharp relief on his second album, 2017's Purgatory, which was produced by the acclaimed Americana rocker Sturgill Simpson. Childers' success continued with a Grammy nomination for "All Your'n," a cut from 2020's politically charged bluegrass album Long Violent History. Where that record benefitted from his control, its 2022 successor Can I Take My Hounds to Heaven? showcased his ambition, featuring a variety of styles spread over the course of three LPs. Childers tightened back up for his latest release, Rustin' in the Rain, an alternately raucous and empathetic album that was released in September. This new attraction features dozens of Audio-Animatronics figures, a foot-tapping soundtrack, and a celebration where everyone’s welcome. Music is at the heart of New Orleans, and guests will be tapping their toes all throughout the attraction thanks in part to adorable critters, who play instruments made of natural materials found in the bayou. Tiana’s new friends include an otter, a rabbit, a racoon, a beaver, a turtle and more. Their spirited stylings will turn the bayou into a party with Zydeco, Rara, and Afro-Cuban music authentic to the region of New Orleans. There is new, original music alongside favorite tunes from the film, created in collaboration with award-winning artists PJ Morton and Terence Blanchard. In addition to musical critters, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure welcomes talent voices from the film as they reprise their roles, including Bruno Campos as Prince Naveen, Jenifer Lewis as Mama Odie, Michael-Leon Wooley as Louis, and the one and only Anika Noni Rose as Princess Tiana. As guests float through the cypress trees and Spanish moss of a beautiful Louisiana bayou, they may see some familiar faces as part of the dozens of entirely new Audio-Animatronics figures. Along with Princess Tiana, Louis and Mama Odie, keep an eye out for Eudora, Charlotte, Prince Ralphie, Prince Naveen and others. Between Disney’s iconic storytelling, technologically advanced Audio-Animatronics figures, and a thrilling 50-foot drop, Tiana’s Bayou Adventure has enough fun for everyone!
