Schmankerl Stub'n only opened its bricks and mortar location in May 2024, but now the restaurant is to close this month.
Downtown Orlando is set to lose yet another restaurant, with the owners blaming the current landscape in the downtown area.
Schmankerl Stub'n opened to much fanfare in May 2024, but now the owners are pulling the plug on the restaurant, announcing that they are working on relocating to a new spot in 2025.
Originating out of Dan's Bavarian Takeout which opened in November 2023 as a ghost kitchen at N Dollins Avene, Schmankerl Stub'n opened in the former home of Neon Beach Bar and Eatery at 131 N Orange Ave, STE 104, Orlando, bringing authentic German classics and modern dishes to the Orlando area.
Announcing the news on its social media channels, Schmankerl Stub'n owners commented, "After much thought and consideration, we’ve made the difficult decision to close our downtown location. Our last day open will be New Year’s Eve, so let’s make it a night to remember!"
They went on to explain the reason behind their decision to pull the plug on the restaurant, saying that the decision wasn’t easy, but with the current landscape downtown and the most recent events, they believe it’s in their best interest to move forward with a new location outside the downtown area. "We’re excited to share that we’re working on relocating to a new spot in 2025, where we’ll continue to bring you the same great food, drinks, and atmosphere you love."
Schmankerl Stub'n will remain open during normal hours until New Year’s Eve, with the owners urging everyone to visit before they close the doors on December 31.:
"We can’t thank you enough for your support over the past few months—it has meant the world to us. Stay tuned for updates on our new location, and let’s finish this chapter together on a high note."
