- Buena Vista Social Orchestra continue legacy of the Buena Vista Social Club in new show coming to Orlando
The Buena Vista Social Orchestra, under the direction of trombonist Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos, are set to perform in Orlando. The Buena Vista Social Orchestra, under the direction of trombonist Jesus “Aguaje” Ramos, continues the legacy of the legendary Buena Vista Social Club in an exciting new stage production featuring the ensemble’s greatest hits and deep-dive cuts. In this inaugural tour, that includes a stop in Orlando, Ramos is joined by an all-star ensemble including three original BVSC members, "Betun" Luis Mariano Valiente Marin (Congas, Bongo), Emilio Senon Morales Ruiz (Piano) and Fabían Garcia (Bass), as they showcase the Cuban musical heritage that gave birth to Latin Jazz, Salsa and many other genres of music as we know them today. The group became a worldwide phenomenon in 1997 when the ensemble of top-tier Cuban musicians released their eponymous, award-winning debut album. While critically acclaimed, album sales quickly rose beyond the niche world-music audience almost entirely by word-of-mouth. To date, the Buena Vista Social Club and related projects have amassed global sales over 50 million, making it the biggest-selling Cuban music project in history. As one critic put it, Buena Vista’s groundbreaking work has become “world music’s equivalent of The Dark Side of the Moon.” Buena Vista Social Orchestra will take to the stage at Dr Phillips Center's Steinmetz Hall on Sunday, September 29, 2024 at 7 pm. - Fast and Furious: Supercharged temporarily closing at Universal Studios Florida
Universal Orlando confirms Fast and Furious: Supercharged is temporarily closing... Sadly it's not for a revamp! Universal Orlando Resort has confirmed on its operational calendar that one of its most unpopular rides in the resort is closing later this summer. Fast and Furious: Supercharged, located at Universal Studios Florida, will be closed temporarily from August 19 through November 3, 2024. The closure is sadly not for a revamp as many would hope, with the attraction going dark due to part of the building being used for a Halloween Horror Nights house. Previously, the attraction was operational during the day, and closed only during Halloween Horror Nights, but this year, for whatever reason, park management have decided to close Fast and Furious: Supercharged for a multi-month period. So if you do happen to enjoy a ride on the party bus with Dom, Letty, Hobbs and Roman, best do it soon!
