- Jeff’s Bagel Run opens it's latest store in Celebration
Jeff’s Bagel Run continues to expand, opening its fourth location within Celebration. Fast expanding local bagel chain, Jeff’s Bagel Run has opened the doors to it's four location, yet another step in the chains impressive expansion plans that will see the number of stores increase to eight in the near future. The latest store to open is located at 1587 Future Way. Celebration, and joins locations at 2787 Old Winter Garden Rd, Ocoee, 4339 Edgewater Dr. Orlando, and 1351 Alafaya Trail # 1013, Oviedo. Stores at Orange Avenue in Winter Park, and Daryl Carter Parkway in O'Town West are set to open soon with another two stores planned for Clermont, and Conroy/Kirkman. The Celebration location is open daily from 7 am - 2 pm. All new locations will feature an open kitchen concept with bar seating so guests can watch the bagel making magic. The bagel shops which are run by Jeff and Danielle Perera, are expanding thanks to a strategic partnership with Justin Wetherill, founder of 1337 Capital, and the co-founder of the uBreakiFix chain. Jeff and Danielle commented on the opening of the latest store in Celebration, saying, "Four years ago we were selling bagels out of our home kitchen. Many of you made the drive from Celebration to our house and picked up orders from the porch. Now having a store in the premier shopping center in your neighborhood is a bit surreal. We are forever grateful for those early days, we are here because of you!" The couple went on to thank everyone who is helping them build Jeff’s Bagel Run, "Thank you to our partner Justin for crafting the vision of growth. Thank you David, Aaron, Josh, and Bryan for building the tools that make our daily lives better. Thank you Gary, Eddie, and Corey for bringing the brand to life. Thank you Ryann and Sedrick for actually putting these stores together. Thank you Sonny, you are a wizard. Thank you Catriona and Trevor for connecting our community. Thank you Min and Jason for supporting all of the (often unrecognized) back office operations. Thank you Glen and Jaclyn for the finest coffee in the land. Thank you to our store teams for serving bagel lovers across Central Florida." After relocating to Central Florida in 2016, Jeff and Danielle Perera found themselves longing for the authentic New York-style bagels that Danielle grew up enjoying. Dissatisfied with the options available, they decided to take matters into their own hands. In 2019, when Jeff faced a layoff, Danielle saw an opportunity to turn their shared love of bagels into something more. With Jeff as the baker and Danielle as the taste tester, they embarked on a journey to perfect the art of bagel making. Amidst the challenges of the pandemic, Jeff initiated what would become known as the “bagel run” – personally delivering freshly baked “Always boiled, never toasted” bagels door-to-door to friends, neighbors, and local businesses. The response was overwhelming, with demand quickly outpacing supply. Fuelled by the enthusiasm of their community, Jeff’s Bagel Run evolved from a humble home kitchen operation to a thriving business. The success of the “bagel run” paved the way for Jeff and Danielle to expand their reach, selling their delectable bagels at local markets and events. Finally, in June 2021, they realized their dream of opening the first Jeff’s Bagel Run brick-and-mortar location in Ocoee, Florida. With Danielle leaving her corporate job to join Jeff “full bagel,” the Perera family poured their hearts and souls into creating a warm, inviting space where customers could experience the joy of freshly baked bagels. - Local Puerto Rican Chain, El Cilantrillo opens fourth restaurant in Kissimmee’s Old Town
The new Kissimmee location is the largest yet for the family-owned and operated restaurant group and represents an investment of more than $1 million. El Cilantrillo Restaurant, Central Florida’s largest Puerto Rican restaurant group, recently opened its fourth and largest store in Kissimmee's Old Town. It is open seven days a week and can accommodate up to 450 guests. The dining area is divided into a main indoor dining room and an outdoor patio with a cozy ambiance and a bar. The patio also has a permanent stage where Latin music bands will perform every week, starting from Thursday to Sunday, late into the evening. The new Old Town location has a lot to offer, including a gift shop called "La Placita Don Turull" that features a collection of Puerto Rican artisanal items. Additionally, there is a private room available for parties and meetings. The opening of this store creates approximately 80 new jobs, with the company’s executive office now located on the second floor of the new Old Town location, along with all its restaurants combined, more than 200 Central Floridians are employed. Founded in 2017 by husband and wife team Hiram Turull and Dianne Santos-Turull, El Cilantrillo Restaurant specializes in traditional Puerto Rican cuisine, like mofongo (smashed, garlicky, green plantains), pernil (roast pork) and rice dishes from arroz con gandules (rice with Caribbean pigeon peas) to arroz con mariscos (Puerto Rican style paella). A full bar offers delectable cocktails with an island flare including traditional mojitos as well as mango, passion fruit and other tropical flavors. “When we started El Cilantrillo our dream was to share the extensive culinary heritage of our island and its warm hospitality with everyone in this diverse community,” Turull said. “This new location helps us expand on that goal by enabling us also to serve the thousands of tourists that visit us every day. We want them to go home knowing that Orlando has a vibrant culinary scene worth experiencing and that they should not miss out on trying Puerto Rican food.” The Turull's five adult children are all involved in the business, as well as other extended family members. They can be found at the company’s offices in leadership and support positions, in the kitchen, waiting tables, and tending bar, making El Cilantrillo a true family operation both in the back and front of the house. To mark the grand opening of its newest store, El Cilantrillo is rolling out new menu items in all locations. Among them, croquetas de mamposteao (rice and beans croquettes) and malanga nachos (taro chips nachos). El Cilantrillo has three other stores, including two in Orlando, at 2500 S. Semoran Blvd. and 1301 Florida Mall Ave., and one at 3628 W Vine St. in Kissimmee. Additionally, the Turull family has expanded their business ventures with Turull's Boquería - a Spanish tapas bar and restaurant in the Florida Mall area, Nona's Urban Pizza in Lake Nona, as well as the family’s own coffee brand, Don Turull Cafe Premium Blend, available at all of their restaurants and in many area supermarkets. A cigar brand, Don Turull Cigars, completes the list of current family holdings with several other projects in development. To learn more about El Cilantrillo, visit www.elcilantrillorestaurant.com.
