Okonomi is the latest concept from the creative team behind Zaru, UniGirl, Zaru, Cowboy Curry, and Sorekara.

Orlando’s Mills Market, located at 1110 E. Colonial Drive, is home to an impressive choice of eateries, including the MICHELIN Bib Gourmand recipients UniGirl, ZARU and Bánh Mì Boy, and the MICHELIN Guide recommended Kai Kai, and now its getting yet another choice for hungry diners.
Set to open this summer, Okonomi is the latest concept from Chef William Shen, the man behind Zaru, UniGirl, and and more.
In contrast to omakase, where guests entrust their experience to the chef, Okonomi is a sushi concept, designed in the style of kaunta seki, offering Japanese counter seating, allowing guests to walk up without a reservation to a 10-seat bar and order sushi by the piece, based on their own tastes and preferences, while guided by the chef’s expertise.
“I want to introduce our guests to the original way—and my favorite way—of dining at a sushi bar,” says Shen. “At Okonomi, the experience is truly ‘up to the guest.’”
When Okonomi opens this summer it will be open for lunch and dinner, seven days per week.
Located next to the also soon-to-open Cowboy Curry, Okonomi will offer sake together with grab-n-go sushi boxes and chirashi bowls.
