Orlando Museum of Art receives $750,000 in State Funding for Major Infrastructure Improvements

The State Funding, secured by Senator Brodeur and Representative Booth will support critical facility upgrades to protect the museum and enhance the visitor experience.

The Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) today announced it has received $750,000 in state appropriation funds secured by Senator Jason Brodeur and Representative Erika Booth. 

The state funding will support critical infrastructure improvements, including upgrades to the museum’s air-handling system and repairs to areas damaged by water intrusion. These efforts will help ensure the museum can provide a safe and welcoming environment for visitors for years to come.

"This funding lets us take care of problems our visitors never see but that matter just as much as anything on our walls," said Cathryn Mattson, CEO of OMA. "A safe, well-maintained building is part of giving every visitor the best possible experience, whether it's their first time walking through our galleries or their hundredth. We're grateful to Senator Brodeur and Representative Booth for recognizing that, and for helping make sure OMA can continue to be a home for art and ideas in Orlando for generations to come."

Support like this comes at a critical time for arts institutions, as museums across the country face rising operating and maintenance costs. Investments like this one help OMA address essential facility needs while continuing to serve the Central Florida community.

“This funding is about protecting the investment taxpayers have already made,” said Senator Jason Brodeur. “We’ve addressed the water damage, and it’s important that we see the repairs through rather than leave the job unfinished and put that investment at risk. Completing this work keeps the facility in good shape so it can continue serving our schools, supporting local jobs, and welcoming hundreds of thousands of visitors each year.”
