The Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) has announced a unique lineup of events and exhibitions planned for this coming fall season.
In its centennial year, the museum looks to expand its offerings to engage a wider audience, adding fun and exciting themes to its selection. From families looking for wholesome activities to individuals hoping to challenge their perspectives and discover new ways of thinking, OMA brings together artwork that will inspire everyone.
"At OMA, our goal is to offer unique and dynamic programming that fully represents people from all walks of life," said Cathryn Mattson, CEO of the Orlando Museum of Art. "We are constantly striving to push the boundaries of our exhibitions, demonstrating what art is truly capable of offering our community. We pride ourselves on bringing recognition to the most diverse and innovative artists, and shedding light on the stories that bring us together."

September 6 - December 1, 2024
Experience the nostalgia of Little Golden Books with over sixty masterpieces of original illustrations from the Random House archives. Featured in the exhibition are pieces from beloved picture-book classics like The Poky Little Puppy, Tootle, Home for a Bunny, The Color Kittens, I Can Fly and many more. Launched in 1942, Little Golden Books made high quality illustrated books available at affordable prices for the first time to millions of young children and their parents.

Family Day: Golden Legacy of Golden Books on October 5
A special event designed for families to have fun and celebrate the art of Little Golden Books. Features hands-on art and gallery activities, storytelling, and music! Listen as musicians from the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra perform a Symphony Storytime@OMA concert of the book The Poky Little Puppy by Janette Sebring Lowrey, illustrated by Gustaf Tenggren. A City of Orlando fire truck will on-site from 11 am - 1 pm. Family Days are always free for the whole family

Torn Apart brings together for the first time Andrew Krivineกฏs extensive collection of punk graphics and ephemera, Malcolm Garrett, MBE's collection of Vivienne Westwood garments and Sheila Rock photography. Recognized as one of the most comprehensive punk exhibitions to date, Torn Apart highlights the brilliant designs of the era and the designers who created them. The exhibition includes iconic works by Peter Saville (New Order/Joy Division), Raymond Pettibon (Black Flag) and Barney Bubbles (Elvis Costello).

On October 25 from 7-11 pm, enjoy a night of 80s punk and new wave-inspired live bands and DJs, custom beers by Ravenous Pig, street food, fashion, full museum gallery access and so much more! This event is 21+.

J. Grant Brittain is one of the most widely recognized and influential skateboard photographers on the planet. In 1987, The Push, a photo of Tod Swank made the cover of Transworld, becoming one of the most recognizable skateboarding photos. J. Grant Brittain, who captured photos of 11-year-old Tony Hawk, was instrumental in documenting the formative years of the legendary skateboarderกฏs career and has continued a lifelong friendship. This will be the acclaimed photographer's very first museum exhibition retrospective and a chance to see this collection of works from the 1980s which has inspired so many generations.

Front Row Center grants viewers an all-access pass to some of the most memorable performances in popular music history, bringing together over 70 iconic images of legendary musicians and singers across three genres and generations. From Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix to David Bowie and Lauryn Hill, this exhibition charts renowned photographer Larry Hulstกฏs extraordinary path through the pulsing heart of the most exciting live music of the last century, showcasing a unique visual anthology of rock, blues and soul music from 1970จC1999. These images, which have been featured on album art and Rolling Stone spreads, convey Hulstกฏs lifelong passion for the magnetism, immediacy and unpredictability of live music.

The Festival of Trees is an annual event organized by the Council of 101, a committee established in 1965 to further the cultural development and education of the visual arts in Central Florida, in accordance with the mission of the OMA. During Festival of Trees, general admission ticket holders will enjoy enchanting dจฆcor, more than 30 designer-decorated trees, exceptional gingerbread houses and wreaths. Visitors will also participate in the crowd-favorite Entertaining and Design tablescapes raffle, Silent Auction, photo ops with Santa and more. In addition, there will be a holiday shopping experience in our Toyland, pop-up Boutique as well as live entertainment throughout the event.
In addition to these exhibitions, OMA will also be hosting 100 Years of Art on September 28. This centennial gala will recognize OMA's progress since its inception, and serve as a celebration of 100 years of art.
Guests will be able to enjoy a collaborative performance by an Orlando Philharmonic ensemble and The Orlando Opera. The event is black-tie attire and will begin at 6 pm. Tickets are limited.
