Dale Chihuly’s stunning Cobalt and Citron Tower will continue to inspire visitors at the Orlando Museum of Art for years to come thanks to an extended loan agreement with Orlando-based law firm Lowndes.

The Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) has announced that Dale Chihuly’s stunning Cobalt and Citron Tower will continue to inspire visitors for years to come thanks to an extended loan agreement with Orlando-based law firm Lowndes. The renewal coincides with Lowndes’ 55th anniversary year, demonstrating the firm’s longstanding commitment to enriching Central Florida’s cultural landscape.
The Cobalt and Citron Tower, comprising 434 meticulously hand-blown glass components, has been a centerpiece of the museum’s collection since its creation for the 2004 exhibition Chihuly Across Florida: Masterworks in Glass. The sculpture will remain on display in the museum’s Council of 101 Grand Gallery.
“We are so pleased to announce this extension with Lowndes, which further strengthens the partnership between our two institutions,” said Cathryn Mattson, executive director and CEO of the Orlando Museum of Art. “The Cobalt and Citron Tower has become synonymous with the Orlando Museum of Art. Thanks to Lowndes’ continued support, this remarkable piece will remain a source of inspiration for visitors, artists, and the community.”
The extension carries forward the legacy of firm founder John Lowndes, whose belief in supporting arts and culture continues to guide the firm’s community engagement philosophy.
“The creativity and craftsmanship of Chihuly’s sculpture represent qualities that our firm has valued throughout our 55-year history,” said Quino Martinez, CEO and managing partner of Lowndes. “Our firm has a history of investing in cultural institutions that enrich our community, and we’re honored to continue this tradition by extending our partnership with the Orlando Museum of Art.”

As part of its ongoing dedication to bringing innovative art to the community, OMA invites everyone to visit the Council of 101 Grand Gallery, where Cobalt and Citron Tower will remain a focal point of the museum’s exhibitions. The partnership between OMA and Lowndes ensures future generations will experience Chihuly’s artistry, known for its groundbreaking approach to glass sculpture.
