  • Celebrating International Jazz Day, The 3rd Annual D.T.O. Jazz Fest returns to Downtown Orlando

    The 3rd Annual D.T.O. Jazz Fest will take place this weekend in the heart of downtown at the Walt Disney Amphitheater in Lake Eola Park. The 3rd Annual D.T.O. Jazz Fest is returning to Downtown Orlando on Sunday, April 28, 2024, celebrating International Jazz Day with a free, world class jazz festival featuring local, regional and International Jazz Artists. This free event will take place at the Walt Disney Amphitheater in Lake Eola Park, bringing an impressive lineup to Orlando, including Scatter the Atoms that Remain with special guest Randy Brecker, Yorgis Goiricelaya and his Elegance Project Quintet, O Som Do Jazz Ensemble, and the Florida Symphony Youth Orchestra Alphonse Carlo Jazz Band. Jazz Fest Inc., formerly named Miami International Jazz Fest Inc., presented its first edition at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center in Miami, Florida, on Friday, May 9th, 2014. Since then, dozens of Jazz performances took place at multiple venues in the greater Miami area to delight hundreds of festival attendees during seven consecutive yearly presentations. That was until the COVID-19 Pandemic forced the organizers to cancel the 2020 festival. During this pause, they decided to move the festival to Orlando, believing that the City of Orlando and its surrounding communities were the “perfect fit” for the events future. Together with original Sublime band members Bud Gaugh and Eric Wilson, they stormed through a set featuring all of the hits. They played ‘Romeo’ for the first time since 1998, to which Jakob said the song “has not been played in like 100 years.” In a nod to his late father, Jakob played with his custom guitar and Mesa Boogie amp during an electric set that included classics like “Bad Fish,” “Santeria” and “What I Got.” BRIGHTSIDE is one of the first announced festival appearances for the recently reunited Sublime, a band that has sold over 18million albums in the U.S., with their genre-defining music and cultural influence is stronger today than ever before.   • Derek Hough and wife Hayley Erbert Hough take time out of tour to visit Disney’s Animal Kingdom

    Star couple, Derek Hough and wife Hayley Erbert Hough recently took a break from their Symphony of Dance Tour, and enjoyed a day of fun at Walt Disney World. “Dancing with the Stars” legend Derek Hough, has shared a special moment with his wife Hayley Erbert Hough, posing for photographs in front of the Tree of Life at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park on Apr. 19, 2024. Hayley, looked radiant wearing a Mickey Mouse baseball shirt over a black T-shirt, which was tucked into blue denim shorts. Derek meanwhile wore a white Walt Disney World T-shirt with Mickey Mouse printed on it, together with jogging pants. The couple, who married in August last year in an intimate ceremony in Monterey County, California, clearly enjoyed the trip to Walt Disney World, which follows a tough few months for the couple. Hayley, 29, was rushed to the hospital in December following a show in Washington, D.C., where she underwent an emergency craniectomy for a hematoma. Fortunately, Hayley, is now well into her recovery from the emergency brain surgery, with the dancer cleared to return to dancing, performing for the first time since the surgery on April 14 in a show in Melbourne's King Center. The Houghs spent the day at Walt Disney World Resort, and took the rest of their dance cast and crew along for the fun, enjoying a break from their rescheduled 26-city cross country Symphony of Dance Tour. In addition to the show in Melbourne, dates in Florida included performances in Tampa, Hollywood, Sarasota, and Orlando, with the couple and the cast performing at Dr Phillips Center for the Performing Arts following the trip to Disney's Animal Kingdom. After the photos Hayley said she planned to enjoy the seasoned fries at Mr. Kamal’s in Disney’s Animal Kingdom, calling it her favorite dish at Walt Disney World. Derek shared the visit with his 3.4 million Instagram followers, commenting, "Took my cast and crew for a fun Day at @waltdisneyworld!!
