Timucua Arts Foundation is celebrating 25 years of art, heart, and community at the White House. Timucua Arts Foundation invites the Orlando community to Timucua 25, a celebration and fundraising event at the White House on November 15 with heavy hors d'oeuvres, wine and spirits, Glazer family concert featuring students from Mrs. Élaine's Piano Studio, and a live auction and raffle! 25 years ago, Benoit Glazer and Élaine Corriveau began hosting concerts at their home. - Artist Michelle Sider's work among the 'Timeless Mosaics' on exhibition through Dec. 7 in Winter Park
Sider’s “Windblown” mosaic is on view now at the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens in Winter Park. Mixed Media Artist Michelle Sider has work featured in the Mosaic Arts International 2025: Timeless Mosaics exhibition now through December 7 at the Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens, 633 Osceola Avenue, in Winter Park. Presented by the Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA), this annual juried exhibition highlights contemporary innovation in mosaic fine art and architectural design, featuring artists from around the world. When Sider decided to take her art practice full-time, she attended her first SAMA conference. It was an experience that, she says, “changed my world.” “I am really grateful to the SAMA organization for helping me expand my horizons,” she said. This month she’ll return to Orlando for SAMA’s 2025 conference, the American Mosaic Summit, where she’ll volunteer, attend artist talks and join a community mosaic project. Sider will attend the artist reception on Oct. 30, alongside participating artists from across the country. Her featured mosaic, “Windblown,” captures a highly-detailed, realistic side to her mixed media work, which is known for catching light and showing movement. Based in Metro Detroit, she is proud to have had her work included in SAMA’s international exhibition consecutively since first applying in 2023. Timeless Mosaics presented by the Society of American Mosaic Artists is on view now through December 7, 2025 at The Albin Polasek Museum and Sculpture Gardens. Mosaic, the intricate art of forming images from countless small pieces (tesserae) of colored glass, ceramic tiles, stone, and a myriad of other materials, boasts a rich and continuous history spanning millennia. Far from being a mere decorative technique, mosaic has served as a powerful medium for storytelling, spiritual expression, and the assertion of power across diverse civilizations. From ancient Pompeii to today’s New York City subways, the materials and methods employed by mosaic artists throughout history remain profoundly relevant, continuously reinterpreted, and enhanced by modern innovations in the art form. In collaboration with the Society of American Mosaic Artists (SAMA), the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens present the finest contemporary mosaics from SAMA’s diverse international membership. The selected works reflect the diversity of the mosaic medium and its boundless applications encompassing fine art as well as architectural or community site-specific mosaics. The exhibition was juried by a distinguished panel including Tamie Diener-Lafferty, Curator of the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Gardens, and Ahmed Ibrahim, a mosaic artist since 2000 and winner of the 14th International Mosaic Meeting in Chartres, France. Over several days, they selected 46 works for inclusion in the Fine Art, Site-Specific, and Architectural Art segments.
