  • Vivoli Il Gelato expands beyond Walt Disney World with Flamingo Crossings location planned

Locals and visitors to Winter Garden can look forward to fresh gelato when Vivoli Il Gelato opens at 153 Sugar Belle Drive, Suite F, Winter Garden. The family-owned Vivoli Il Gelato, an Italian gelateria which many of you will know from Disney Springs is expanding its horizons beyond the Disney bubble, opening a new location in Flamingo Crossings at Horizons West. Originally from Florence, Italy, the company which dates back to 1929, opened its first location in the U.S. in 2013, in New York. The family then opened in Disney Springs in 2015, with the Orlando location becoming the only place you could experience Vivoli Il Gelato in the country. Since then Vivoli Il Gelato has expanded within Walt Disney World with two cart locations in Disney Springs, and one in Disney's Riviera Resort. Now, Vivoli Il Gelato has announced that a second storefront location is opening soon in Horizon West, located at 153 Sugar Belle Drive, Suite F, Winter Garden. The location will offer the same freshly-made gelato, sorbet, affogatos, milkshakes, and more that customers love in Disney World! An opening date for the new location has not been announced, with an opening date targeted for later this year, 2026. Vivoli Il Gelato's story began back in 1929 when Serafino Vivoli found a milk shop in Florence. Serafino’s brother Raffaello had an idea to introduce coffee drinks, whipped cream, and treats such as biscoh to the business. The shop - Vivoli quickly becoming a popular place to gather and embrace ‘dolce far niente,’ (a sweet nothingness). Then in 1932 Raffaelo begins gelato production, bringing ice from Saltino. In the 1960s, the business passes to the second generation, with Piero (Raffaello’s son) and his wife Simonetta leading Vivoli to fame. With advancements in refrigeration, Vivoli adds a large variety of gelati, expanding to 24 seasonally-rotating flavors. Then in the 1970s Piero and Simonetta’s daughters, Patrizia and Silvana, are taught the art of gelato as young children. They grow up in the Vivoli kitchen where they learn the taste of pure ingredients, the texture of gelato. In 1988, Silvana Vivoli becomes head gelato maker, with Patrizia Vivoli runs the business side of Vivoli. Fast forward to 2013 and the fourth generation of teh family, Lorenzo and Giulia (Patrizia’s children) make and serve Vivoli’s delicious confections and carry on the family’s tradition. At this time with Silvana at the helm, the family decides to venture overseas to the U.S. In partnership with Nick Valenti, Vivoli opened its 2nd location in New York at Macy’s Herald Square in March 2013. With a gelato counter offering to-go cups and on the dessert menu at the adjacent restaurant, Stella 34 Trattoria, this is the first time Vivoli has been available outside of Florence. Tow years later the family opens in Disney Springs in Orlando.
