Rooted in traditions passed down through generations, the special exhibition explores how contemporary makers draw on ancestral knowledge, family stories, and cultural practices to create works that are both deeply personal and widely resonant. Floridiana: Vintage Treasures & Oddities From The Sunshine State at OMA September 18 - January 10 Floridiana: Vintage Treasures & Oddities From The Sunshine State is organized by the Orlando Museum of Art. Florida has long been a place of escape, and the souvenirs visitors took home during its mid-century heyday—hotel ashtrays, rubber alligators, roadside attraction brochures—embodied memories of carefree days in the Sunshine State. These vernacular objects, often decorative, utilitarian, or absurd, offer an unfiltered glimpse into a time when Florida’s identity was shaped by tourism and fantasy. The exhibition presents over 130 objects from the collection of Gary Monroe. Extra! Extra! The Orlando Sentinel Turns 150 at the History Center June 6 - January 3 From its beginnings in 1876 as the Orange County Reporter, the Orlando Sentinel has grown alongside the city it serves. Today, as a three-time Pulitzer Prize–winning newspaper, it celebrates 150 years of journalism, community, and storytelling. To mark this milestone, the History Center presents Extra! Extra! The Orlando Sentinel Turns 150, a pocket exhibit showcasing photographs, archival materials, and artifacts from our collection that reflect the paper’s long presence in the region. The House That Freedoms Built at Rollins College July 24 - January 3 Explore the history and enduring legacy of colonialism in the Caribbean through The House That Freedoms Built, an outdoor installation by artist La Vaughn Belle on the Rollins College campus. Featuring three white, pitched-roof structures inspired by 18th-century homes built by formerly enslaved people of St. Croix, the work invites reflection on how ideas of home, belonging, and freedom are constructed. As the first in a series of installations leading to the opening of the Rollins Museum of Art’s new facility, it engages viewers in a thoughtful dialogue about identity, community, and the spaces we inhabit. The Wild Path: Connecting the Florida We Don’t See at OMA September 25 - January 3 The Wild Path: Connecting the Florida We Don’t See presents 70 works by National Geographic conservation photographer Carlton Ward Jr., focused on wild Florida at the Orlando Museum of Art. Ward founded the Florida Wildlife Corridor project in 2010 and has since trekked 2,000 miles during two National Geographic supported expeditions to advocate for the corridor’s protection and the recovery of the Florida panther, which led to the award-winning 2022 documentary Path of the Panther. Extreme Sports: Beyond Human Limits at OSC September 26 - January 3 Are you ready to jump, fly, dive and climb at Orlando Science Center? This exhilarating exhibit invites adults and children alike to explore some of the most extreme sports in the world. Visitors will engage in a variety of science experiences related to human ability, capacity, drive and motivation. And along the way, you’ll even start to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding extreme sports. Fall Festival at Amber Brooke Farms September 19 - November 22 Celebrate fall in Florida at Amber Brooke Farm’s biggest festival of the year at 36111 N CR 44A Eustis! From nostalgic traditions to new seasonal favorites, enjoy family activities, great food, and live entertainment every weekend. Southern Hill Farms Fall Festival September 26 - November 22, Select Dates Join Southern Hill Farms located at 16651 Schofield Rd, Clermont for their annual Fall Festival. What fall adventure would be complete without a day of fall fun on the farm with carnival rides, a corn maze, u-pick flowers, a petting zoo, live music, pumpkins, food trucks, seasonal treats, photo opportunities and more. Harvest Holler Pumpkin Patch & Corn Maza September 18 - November 15, Friday - Sunday At Harvest Holler located at 950 Tavares Rd., Polk City, just off the I-4 between Tampa and Orlando. experience a real working family farm with animals, activities, corn maze and of course a pumpkin patch. Space Coast State Fair October 29 – November 15 The Space Coast State Fair is Brevard’s largest and most popular annual family event. The event features 40 acres of fun with 100 state fair rides, games, food stands, free shows and much more. Experience Contemporary 2026: A Wrench in the Gears at Casselberry Arts Center August 22 - November 13 Presented by Casselberry Arts, the annual Experience Contemporary 2026 exhibition, A Wrench in the Gears, features five Florida artists: Justin Quaid Grubb, Cynthia Mason, Noelle Mason, Hilary White, and Matthew Wicks. Their work will be on display at the Casselberry Arts Center. Color Fields and Inspirations at OMA May 29 - November 8 In the decades following the Second World War, artists continued developing new stylistic vocabularies, sustaining the Abstract Expressionist movement amid the rise and influence of Minimalism, Conceptualism, and Pop Art. In Color Fields and Inspirations at Orlando Museum of Art, works by acclaimed artists of the 1960s and 1970s invite an ongoing conversation that embraces intuition, experimentation, and reflection on materiality. Represent: Contemporary Figuration and Portraiture from the Collection at OMA June 18 - November 8 Represent: Contemporary Figuration and Portraiture from the Collection presents a selection of some of the most compelling and diverse portraits among the Orlando Museum of Art collection, featuring the recent acquisition of a Kandy G Lopez textile, Hispaniola II – Mia (2024) and the gift of David LaChapelle photograph The Annunciation , Hawaii (2019). USA 250: 250 Years on the Road to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness at OMA June 30 - November 8 USA 250: 250 Years on the Road to Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness is an exhibition presented across two galleries at OMA. Drawing from the Collection of the Orlando Museum of Art, it is envisioned as a road trip across the United States, trailing significant historical points of view where artists have recognized, responded to, or documented changing human experiences. Mayhem Ranch Fall Festival September 26 - November 8, Saturday & Sunday Join Mayhem Ranch at 17830 SE 40th St., Morriston, for their biggest festival of the year! From the U-Pick Pumpkin Patch to meeting animals from all over the world, the've got all of your fall favorites in one place. Pumpkin Patch Picking at Green Meadows Petting Farm September 26 – November 8 The Fall Pumpkin Patch is the perfect spot for family fun. With every admission, guests will receive one free pumpkin to take home. Along the way, you can meet and snuggle our friendly farm animals, play in the corn box, climb up on our tractors, and race down the haywagon slides. Little artists will love leaving their mark in the chalk barn, and the always-popular bunny barn is waiting for visits and cuddles. Fall Into The Gardens at Leu Gardens September 12 - November 2 Celebrate the enchanting charm of autumn at the Gardens, where vibrant marigolds and a beautiful display of seasonal blooms create a colorful fall experience. Harvest Moon Fun Farm's Fall Festival September 26 - November 1, Weekends Harvest Moon Fun Farm is located at 15990 Stur St, Masaryktown, and featurs a pumpkin patch, 5 acre cron maze, and so much more. Sykes Family Farms Maze October 3 - November 1 Sykes Family Farms Maze located at 5995 Brough Rd, Elkton, is all day fun for all ages throughout the Fall season. Plus, don't miss the Pumpkin Patch! Community Presbyterian Church's Pumpkin Patch October 11 - 31 Ready to start carving up pumpkins, decorating your yard, or even making a nice pumpkin pie? Grab the family and head to the 2026 Pumpkin Patch at Community Presbyterian Church located at 511 Celebration Ave, Celebration. The Pumpkin Patch opens October 11, and is open every day through October 31. Central Parkway Baptist Church Pumpkin Patch October 11 - 31 Visit Central Parkway Baptist Church located at 5281 Central Florida Pkwy, Orlando for their annual pumpkin patch this fall. The family can find their perfect pumpkin for carving, decorating, eating, or whatever while strolling through the patch and taking great family pictures. Admission is free of course. The annual Sorosis Club Haunted House located at 222 E University Ave, Orange City, is the highlight of the fundraising year for the the Sorosis Club of Orange City Entirely volunteer-run, each year they create six thrilling nights of scares. Downtown Orlando Field Day 2026 October 8 Downtown Orlando serves as a place that helps our community come together! Downtown Orlando Field Day is another exciting downtown event that brings businesses and residents together for fun and camaraderie - bringing day-time businesses, residents and our night-time entertainment industry together for some fun competition. Downtown Orlando Field Day injects a healthy dose of nostalgia in our lives by resurrecting some of our favorite childhood competitions with an Orlando centric twist. Popcorn Flicks in the Park October 8 This film is a part of Enzina's Popcorn Flicks in the Park series in partnership with the City of Winter Park. While exploring the country, Angel loved the bold flavors of authentic street food like birria tacos and quesabirria. “My son ordered [quesabirria] as ramen, and I remember thinking, ‘Wait a minute, they do it with ramen too?’ When I tried it, I thought, ‘Wow, this is good,’” says Angel. “That’s when I decided to combine quesabirria and ramen into one dish.” The Birria Ramen features slow-cooked shredded beef in a flavorful birria consomé with ramen noodles, a cheese quesadilla, onions, scallions and a green chili sauce. Shrimp and Grouper Moqueca at Mythos Restaurant The Shrimp and Grouper Moqueca was created by sous chef Christopher McNelley at Mythos Restaurant. Chef Christopher was inspired by his wife’s Brazilian roots, and after a year of living with her in Brazil, he developed a deep appreciation for Brazilian cuisine. So, when he had the opportunity to create a dish for Hispanic & Latino Heritage Month, he knew exactly what it had to be. This moqueca features a smoked paprika and turmeric-infused broth, coconut Jasmine rice, farofa crocante (a crunchy Brazilian side dish made with toasted cassava flour) and toasted coconut. “I wanted to try to showcase it, represent her and her culture,” Chef Christopher says. “This dish honors my wife and daughter, symbolizing the blending of our two cultures.” Churrasco Steak Platter at Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food Chef Pedro Espino, restaurant chef at Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food, was excited to bring a steak option to the restaurant after many guests requested it. “A lot of people that come to the restaurant always ask for a piece of steak,” Chef Pedro says. “My team and I decided to make something that people wanted to have on the menu.” The dish features grilled churrasco topped with avocado chimichurri and served with rice, beans, eggs and chiles toreados, bringing together many of the flavors guests already love about Antojitos. For Chef Pedro, who grew up in Peru and spent much of his childhood helping at his family’s restaurant, cooking has always been about bringing people together through food. He draws inspiration from his Peruvian roots while working within Mexican cuisine. “I can adapt what I learned in my country to Mexican cuisine,” he explains. Margarita Doughnut at Voodoo Doughnut The Margarita Doughnut was created by Lee Santiago Bermudez, chef assistant at Voodoo Doughnut, who wanted to capture the flavors of the popular cocktail in an unexpected way. Having previously worked at Antojitos Authentic Mexican Food, Lee was inspired by guests enjoying margaritas and began wondering what those flavors might taste like in doughnut form. “Since we don’t sell margaritas at Voodoo, I wanted to try something different,” says Lee. “And that’s how the Margarita Doughnut came to be.” The Margarita Doughnut is a raised yeast shell with a margarita jelly, tequila icing and sweet Tajin. Now, if you’re like me, you may be wondering, “How do you get a margarita flavor in a doughnut?” To recreate the flavors without alcohol, Lee used tequila extract, citrus flavors, a hint of salt and Tajín to mirror the balance of sweet, tart and salty elements found in a classic margarita. A $50,000 grant from the Harvey & Carol Massey Foundation will help bring more than 2,000 students from Title I schools across Central Florida to the Orange County Regional History Center for hands-on encounters with the region’s history. The grant will cover field trips and transportation to and from the History Center, removing a significant barrier that can prevent students from taking part in museum learning experiences. During the History Center’s two-hour field trip experience, students explore the museum with educators through guided activities designed to reinforce classroom learning and spark curiosity about the region’s history, culture, and civic life. In a courtroom mock trial, students take on the roles of historical figures, attorneys, witnesses, jurors, and others as they explore the judicial process and historical events. “This generous support does much more than provide admission to the museum – it removes a significant barrier to getting students beyond the classroom and into places where learning comes to life,” said Azela Santana, executive director of the Orange County Regional History Center. “As a regional museum, we serve students and communities across Central Florida, and for many schools, the combined cost of transportation, admission, and educational programming can determine whether a field trip is possible at all. The Harvey & Carol Massey Foundation is helping to close that gap and ensure that more students, regardless of their school’s resources, have the opportunity to experience their community’s history firsthand.” The History Center welcomed more than 11,000 students on school field trips during the past year, connecting classroom learning with Central Florida’s history through hands-on activities, primary sources, exhibitions, and experiences in the historic 1927 courtroom.
