- Due To Hurricane Ian Preparations, SeaWorld Orlando Postpone New Coaster Announcement
SeaWorld Orlando have announced that due to Hurricane Ian preparations they will not now be announcing their new surf coaster today, Tuesday, 27 September, 2022. SeaWorld had previously teased that today would be the big day they announce their seventh coaster, construction is well underway within the park for the coaster The surf coaster will feature riders in a standing position, and is being manufacturer by Swiss coaster firm B & M, who have built three other coasters at SeaWorld Orlando: Kraken, Mako and Manta.
- Kona Cafe At Disney's Polynesian Village Resort Set To Reopen Following Major Refurbishment
Kona Cafe at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort will reopen later this year following a major refurbishment which began on August 15 2022. According to the latest Walt Disney World calendar update, Kona Cafe will reopen on November 1 2022. Kona Cafe is described as a relaxed café infusing Asian zest into traditional American meals and features an onstage sushi kitchen. Disney have said the restaurant will return with an enhanced table-service experience. During the closure of Kona, Kona Island has been offering breakfast, lunch and dinner via Mobile Order in My Disney Experience.
- Hurricane Ian Update: The Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser Will Be Closed Through Sept. 30th
Walt Disney World have announced that due to the impacts expected from Hurricane Ian, The Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser hotel experience will be closed through September 30th. The Starcruiser now joins a list of other experiences and hotels that will also be closed due to the upcoming impacts of Hurricane Ian at Walt Disney World. Walt Disney World is currently contacting guests scheduled on voyages departing September 27 and 29, 2022, to rearrange or cancel. - Hurricane Ian Update: Busch Gardens Tampa Announce The Park Will Be CLOSED Today, Sept 27
Busch Gardens Tampa Bay have announced that the theme park will not be opening today, Tuesday September 27. This is in addition to the already announced closure of the park on Wednesday 28. and Thursday 29. September, 2022. To ensure the safety of their ambassadors, guests, and animals as Hurricane Ian moves through Florida, the park is now closed to ensure precautions are in place for the arrival of Hurricane Ian. Theme Park & Water Park Admission Tickets All admission tickets have been extended through December 31, 2022. Annual Pass Member Guest Tickets Annual Pass Members’ guest tickets with an expiration date of Sept. 30 will be extended through Oct. 16.
- Ian Strengthens Into Major Cat. 3 Hurricane, Track Moves Closer To Central Florida
Hurricane Ian continues to strengthen as it approaches Florida. The storm is now a major Category 3 Hurricane with winds sustained at 105 mph, Ian's rapid intensification could lead to Category 4 status by Tuesday evening. The storm has moved slightly east with The National Hurricane Center now projecting that the storm will make landfall closer to Tampa than earlier models had it projected. This currently puts Hurricane Ian on a collision course with Central Florida and of course its Theme Parks including Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando. A raft of closures has already been announced, including the full closure of Busch Gardens Tampa, as well as partial closure of Walt Disney World, including its water park along with rides, and its Skyliner transportation system. We expect more closures to be announced in the coming hours from the Orlando area theme parks and attractions, plus we are expecting an announcement from Orlando International Airport soon about a closure of its operations as the storm approaches. - Universal Orlando Currently NOT Planning Any Closures Despite Major Storm Approaching
With a major storm approaching Florida and a raft of closures already announced by many Central Florida theme parks, Universal Orlando Resort have announced that they are currently NOT planning on closing any of their theme parks or resorts due to Hurricane Ian. Universal announced on their social media sites "As of now our park operations and hours are continuing as normal. We are closely monitoring the weather. " Currently Hurricane Ian is projected to hit Florida on the west coast, somewhere near Tampa, and with Busch Gardens Tampa already announcing they will be closed, together with Walt Disney World closing certain resorts, attractions, and transportation options, it will be interesting to see what impact Hurricane Ian will have here in Central Florida over the next few days.
- Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure Will Debut Later This Year at EPCOT
Walt Disney World has confirmed that DuckTales World Showcase Adventure will be debuting in EPCOT later this year. Although no opening date has been announced, it is expected that the new interactive attraction which is replacing Agent P’s World Showcase Adventure will open soon. Kartika Rodriguez, Vice President of EPCOT revealed the news. "It’s true that here at EPCOT, we believe teamwork and world exploration makes our world a better place – so I’m delighted to share that Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure is coming to EPCOT later this year. This experience will be the perfect way for the young and young-at-heart to play their way around World Showcase – because life is better when we explore the world around us together! I’m excited to share it with you soon." Disney’s DuckTales World Showcase Adventure was first announced by Disney way back in 2019, but with little word from Disney, it was not known if the attraction was going ahead or not until today's welcome announcement.
- Hurricane Ian Latest: Disney World Waiving Change & Cancelation Fees For Hotel Reservations
As severe weather conditions continue to threaten Central Florida in the coming days due to Hurricane Ian, Walt Disney World Resort has confirmed that it is now waiving change and cancelation fees for hotel reservations. Here is the official announcement that Disney have made: Disney Resort and Room-Only Cancellation Policy for Reservations Booked Directly with Disney Destinations, LLC or The Walt Disney Travel Company. Due to potential weather impacts to guest travel plans, change and cancellation fees imposed by Disney will be waived for check-in dates of Monday, 9/26 – Monday, 10/3. Most room-only and vacation packages can be modified, or cancelled online, including changes to travel dates, without fees. Packages including air transportation or other services provided by third parties, or those with travel protection, cannot be modified or cancelled online. Walt Disney World have announced that all performances of Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue are cancelled through Friday, September 30th due to the approaching Hurricane Ian. Here is the official details from Disney: Performances of Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Revue have been canceled Sept. 28-30 in light of the temporary closure of Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. Guests with pre-paid reservations will be automatically canceled and refunded.
- Walt Disney World Begin Closing Attractions Plus Transportation Options Due To Hurricane Ian
Florida's rapidly approaching Hurricane Ian is beginning to impact operations at Walt Disney World with the company already moving to secure locations which are vulnerable due to expected effects of the major storm.. So far on the attractions side of operations, Test Track at EPCOT is now closed, with guests holding Lighting Lane reservations being offered alternative experiences. Outside the parks, The Disney Skyliner transportation system is now closed. The gondola system is very sensitive to severe weather, and the gondolas are being secured to weather the storm.

However, this may change in the coming days due to the path of the storm. Walt Disney World Resort Hotel CLOSURES Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground, Copper Creek Cabins at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge, Treehouse Villas at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort & Spa and the Bungalows at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort will temporarily close Wednesday, September 28 through Friday, September 30 2022. Walt Disney World Waterpark & Recreation CLOSURES Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon will close temporarily Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29. Winter Summerland Miniature Golf and Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf will also temporarily close Wednesday, September 28 and Thursday, September 29. Dining & Experience Cancellation Fees Waived Effective immediately, Disney will not enforce cancelation policies until further notice for dining and other experiences.

While Disney has suspended dining cancelation fees, no decision has been officially made as to whether the Walt Disney World theme parks will be closed over the coming days.
