KOS Coffee Shop has announced that it will close its Winter Park location this week, citing rising real estate costs, joining The Coop which close its doors in Winter Park last week for the same reason.
Is Winter Park just too expensive a place to do business now? It appear so as now the second business has announced that it is to close in as many weeks, with both businesses citing rising real estate costs for their closures.
Kos Coffee Shop located on W Fairbanks Ave in Winter Park have revealed that they have decided not to renew the lease at 129 W Fairbanks Ave.
The owners say that while they still love their original small but cozy space, it's come with its fair share of downfalls over the years including limited parking, interior space, and the lack of kitchen, but rising real estate costs have caused them close the location.
Kos will now fully focus on their Maitland cafe and roastery, commenting on social media, "Creating the best experience for our customers is paramount to our business, and we feel like we can fully achieve this in our Maitland location." They went on "KOS Winter Park was our beginning but not our end. It provided us with a space to call our own, and allowed us to build a loving and loyal customer base. We will treasure the friends we made, experiences we had, and community we built."
The last day of operations in Winter Park will be this Friday, July 28.
KOS joins John Rivers’ The Coop restaurant which closed its doors forever on July 16, with John Rivers explaining that the lease on the restaurant was coming to an end, and that due to current market rates the business cannot justify renewing the lease.
The popular Winter Park restaurant closed last weekend after nearly 10 years in operation.
