Walt Disney World to host largest LGBTQ+ conference in the world this September

It's been announced that Walt Disney World Resort is scheduled to host what has been billed as the "largest LGBTQ+ conference in the world" later this year.

Out & Equal, a group that campaigns for gay, lesbian and transgender rights in the workplace, is scheduled to hold its 2023 workplace summit at the resort, from September 11-14.

The group have also revealed that Walt Disney World will host both this year's and next year's event.

This is not the first time that the group have held the summit in Walt Disney World, but considering Disney's current relationship with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis who has already clashed with the company over LGBTQ rights, it will be interesting to see if the conference coming to Florida provokes a response from DeSantis.

The last time the workplace summit was hosted at Walt Disney World Resort was in 2016, when it was held at the Walt Disney World Swan & Dolphin Resort months after the Pulse shooting in Orlando, where a gunman killed 49 people at the gay nightclub.

According to Out & Equal's website, around 5,000 people are expected to attend its workplace summit in September, which it describes as "the preferred place to network and share strategies that create inclusive workplaces, where everyone belongs and where LGBTQ+ employees can be out and thrive.

Out & Equal lists the Walt Disney Company as a top-tier supporter, along with many other major brands including Apple, Bank of America, and Uber.

Other companies who supporters the organisation includes Mcdonald's, ,Pfizer, IBM, Walmart, Google and various Government bodies, including the Central Intelligence Agency and the U.S. Department of State, all of whom are expected to have a presence at the conference.
