Trees? Check. Ribbons and stars? Double check. That can only mean one thing in June - it's Halfway to the Holidays at Walt Disney World.
Ahead of this weeks holiday announcements from Walt Disney World, Cast Members joined in the very merry celebration with a tour of Holiday Services – a special building filled to the brim with holiday decorations.
Thanks to Magic Backstage, an employee recognition program. Cast learned how decorators pick items that match an area’s theme – like adding moose and reindeer to the tree at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge or adorning the lobby at Disney’s Art of Animation Resort with white tinsel covered in animation cells – and even got up close with some of the larger-than-life ornaments ahead of the upcoming holiday season
Year after year, Walt Disney World is transformed into a whimsical wonderland with themed décor unparalleled by anything you’ve seen before, and it all happens in the blink of an eye, as if by magic!
While you may think its Santas Elves who transform the resort for the holidays, its actually all thanks to the cast members on the Holiday Services team, who work behind the scenes year-round to create picture-perfect trees, garlands and wreaths.
Disney's Holiday Services are located behind the Magic Kingdom in three massive warehouses.
The 3 warehouses have an estimated 40,000 finished pieces of décor, accommodating every season.
From planning to building to installing, these incredibly talented cast members oversee their creations from start to finish, ensuring no branch is left unfluffed and no ornament untouched.
The Holiday Services team plays a key role in making the parks, hotels and cruise ships feel festive even when it's more than 80 degrees outside.
The Holiday Services warehouses has everything from ornaments and figurines to the parks and resorts icon trees.
