Vice Chair of Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board of Supervisors RESIGNS

Vice Chair Michael Sasso has resigned from the recently appointed Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board of Supervisors.

When Florida Governor Ron DeSantis decided to punish Disney for daring to criticise the Don't Say Gay bill, a legislative effort led by DeSantis in Florida to limit classroom discussion of sexuality and gender issues for younger students, his response was to abolish the special district that gave Disney virtual autonomy over the development of its theme parks in Central Florida.

In abolishing the Reedy Creek Improvement District, DeSantis appointed a new tourist board with oversight of the area, and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Board of Supervisors was born.

Ron DeSantis hand picked the members of the new board, including well know Orlando Attorney Michael Sasso, who DeSantis appointed Vice Chair, with a term that was due to last until February 26, 2027.

But after less than four months, Sasso has resigned his position on the board days after his wife Meredith Sasso was appointed by Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to the Florida Supreme Court on May 23.

News of the premature resignation came from Spectrum News 13 anchor Greg Angel who confirmed the news on his Twitter account.

No official reason or explanation has given by Sasso or the CFTOD Board, for the resignation so far.
