While here in Central Florida we are preparing for an artic blast that will bring below freezing temperatures for Christmas, elsewhere travellers heading to Florida for the holidays are facing the possibility of major holiday travel disruption due to a major winter storm that is likely toward the end of next week across much of the U.S.
Those travelling to and from the north eastern third of the country will need to pay very close attention to the forecast in in the coming days as we get closer to Christmas Day.
As millions of travellers prepare to travel for the holiday, and with record numbers due to arrive at Orlando International Airport, forecasters are warning that significant travel disruptions will potentially start Thursday as a major snowstorm gets underway in the north east of the country.
The storm will continue into Friday, when it ramps up and could potentially dump significant amounts of snow in the north east.
With the storm several days away, details are uncertain, but if the forecast plays out, heavy snow together with strong wind, could cause significantly disruption to travel leading up to and including Christmas Day.
The bottom line is that a highly impactful winter storm is likely toward the end of next week, and those traveling to and from the eastern third of the country should pay close attention to the forecast as it becomes locked in over the coming days!
