The juvenile black bear that has been spotted around the Lake Eola area since Sunday has now been successfully and safely captured.

Late Tuesday evening FWC were able to capture the bear and everyone will be happy to know that the bear is safe and well, ready to be relocated to a new home in Ocala National Forest.

Rep. Anna V. Eskamani shared the news on her Twitter account.

"Blaze the Lake Eola Bear has been caught! He came down the tree, was super timid and kept walking in and out of the trap — but eventually stayed in. Big TY to everyone at World of Beer who kept quiet AND to Mike of FWC."

The juvenile black bear first made its way into downtown's Lake Eola Park on Sunday, spending the next few days climbing from tree to tree, all the while appearing to be happy with his choice of home.

On Sunday night the bear came close to being trapped, coming down from a tree to check a FWC trap out, only for him to become spooked by a cyclist.

FWC have a perimeter set up around the area the bear, asking that the public stay away from the area for their own safety and for that of the animal.
