Dinoland U.S.A. is about to be wiped from existence. making way for the brand-new new Tropical Americas Land coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

DinoLand U.S.A. inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park continues its countdown to extinction with news that The Boneyard is the latest attraction closing within the land.
Walt Disney World has confirmed that The Boneyard, designed to look like a dinosaur dig—where young paleontologists can play, will shutter forever on September 1, 2025.
The entire DinoLand U.S.A. land is closing to make way for new, exciting updates coming with an expansive Tropical Americas destination. While the change is very exciting, time is running out for the prehistoric friends within Animal Kingdom as work continues to bring Tropical Americas to life.
Tropical Americas will feature timeless stories featuring Indiana Jones, and the Madrigal family from Walt Disney Animation Studios Oscar award-winning film “Encanto,” including a new playground for smalerl children once it opens.
To accommodate construction, the first wave of closures happened earlier this year, with TriceraTop Spin, the Fossil Fun Games, and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures running their last day of operations on January 12, 2025.
Now that we know The Boneyard is closing in September, this only leaves Restaurantosaurus and DINOSAUR, so when will they close?
Disney has said that DINOSAUR will remain open throughout 2025 before closing early 2026 to be rethemed into an Indiana Jones attraction. As for Restaurantosaurus, no timeline has been announced.

So what will the new land feature?
If you’re a fan of drawers, floors, and doors, let’s go! The first-ever “Encanto”-themed ride-through attraction is coming to Animal Kingdom, featuring the beloved Madrigal family from the Walt Disney Animation Studios film, with the ride hiding within Casita.

Inside the Casita, Antonio has just received his special gift — the ability to communicate with animals — and his room has transformed into a rainforest. It’s time to go explore alongside him, and you never know what member of the family you might bump into…

A new Indy experience is also set to arrive in Disney’s Animal Kingdom and will be different from any other Indiana Jones experience around the world.

The new Indy ride will use the existing ride system, and show building that is currently the DINOSAUR attraction.
In this new venture, the man with the hat has recently discovered a perfectly preserved Maya temple, and that can only mean one thing: it’s time to explore it. He’s heard rumors about a mythical creature deep within the temple — and he’s got to see it for himself. So, he brings us along on the adventure… but will there be snakes? We’ll just have to wait and see.
To ensure the authenticity of the Tropical Americas, Imagineers conducted numerous research trips, drawing inspiration from various places, including Mexico’s Yucatán Peninsula, to authentically reflect the region’s people, architecture, and more.
