Peace Day in the Park returns to Winter Park celebrating Mister Roger’s “Won’t you be my neighbor?”

The Peace and Justice Institute is once again hosting the 17th annual celebration of the United Nations-mandated International Day of Peace.

Taking place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 9 am - 12. 30 pm, his year the theme of Peace Day in the Park is Mister Roger’s “Won’t you be my neighbor?”

Set against the backdrop of Central Park in Winter Park, FL, this years’ event opens with a

reading of the Principles for How We Treat Each Other by high level community stakeholders

including Winter Park’s Mayor Sheila DeCiccio. The event promises an array of free activities

for all ages including live performances, yoga, tai chi, children’s storytelling and games, bounce

houses, a public art project, and of course, our annual Human Peace Sign photograph.

This year special guest Daniel Tiger from the PBS KIDS show Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood will

join us to spread kindness, give hugs, and help kids explore feelings, friendship, and peace.

A special Resilience Zone will be added this year, highlighting the seven pillars of the

Prescription for Healing and Wellbeing: mental health, movement and exercise, supportive

relationships, connection with nature, mindfulness and contemplative practices, nutrition, and

sleep.

When integrated, these pillars reflect PJI’s core belief that lasting change begins

within—nurturing personal growth as the foundation for a Culture of Peace.

This year’s performers include:

Will Patrick (Jazz, Soul, and Blues featured at Judson's Live and the Blue Bamboo Room), Orlando Gay Chorus, African Drumming, Students of Holy Cross Lutheran Academy, Central Florida Community Arts UpBeat! Dance, Credible Messengers
