Join Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra on Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, 2026 at Steinmetz Hal as Music Director Eric Jacobsen leads an extraordinary program featuring the world premiere of James Lee III’s Symphony No. 2 “Resolute Souls” alongside Ludwig van Beethoven’s iconic Symphony No. 9, one of the greatest symphonies ever written.
Few pieces transcend the emotional and raw power like Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9, a masterpiece that has inspired audiences for generations. From its stirring opening to the triumphant Ode to Joy, this iconic symphony is a true celebration of unity, hope, and the indomitable human spirit.
With its soaring choral finale and unforgettable melodies, Beethoven’s Ninth is more than just a concert—it’s an emotional and uplifting journey that speaks to the soul.
During 6his performance, Orlando Phil will be joined on stage by acclaimed artists Karen Slack, Kate Jackman, Michael Rodriguez, Richard Crawley, and the University of Central Florida University Choir.

To start the program, Lee’s new four-movement symphony offers an emotional and uplifting journey inspired by courage, hope, and the human spirit. On the second half, Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 lifts us to new heights as one of the most celebrated works in classical music. The iconic “Ode to Joy” theme closes out the final movement with a timeless anthem of optimism that continues to inspire audiences around the world.
