The Orlando Museum of Art (OMA) is opening its doors wide for its latest Access for All event on Thursday, May 21, offering free admission from 10 am to 8 pm. This event is a key part of OMA’s dedication to making art accessible to all. Thanks to generous support from the Art Bridges Foundation, Access for All offers the community free admission and engaging programming that fosters meaningful connections with art every month.

“Access for All reflects OMA’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that art is available to everyone in our community,” said Cathryn Mattson, CEO of OMA. “Through the generous support of the Art Bridges Foundation, we are able to open our doors wider each month and create opportunities for visitors of all ages to experience the museum, explore new ideas and feel inspired.”

Events in the May 21 schedule include:

2:30 pm - Gallery Talk

Join us this month to learn more about select works from our permanent collection. We’ll focus on different artists and mediums that will invoke your curiosity.

5 - 7 pm - Sketching in the Galleries

Drawing and sketching supplies will be available for artists of all ages to use. Museum goers can enjoy an evening at the museum and be inspired by artwork in the galleries.

6 - 8 pm - La CinOMAthèque - Screening of Koyaanisqatsi

La CinOMAthèque is a collaboration between OMA and the Enzian, bringing free showings of art films to the community.

Directed by Godfrey Reggio and produced with the support of Francis Ford Coppola, this groundbreaking 1982 film rejected dialogue, characters and traditional storytelling in favor of pure visual language – pairing arresting imagery with the hypnotic, minimalist score of Philip Glass.

The screening will be introduced and include a talkback with OMA chief curator Coralie Claeysen-Gleyzon and Enzian programming manager Tim Anderson.

7 pm - Highlights Tour

This docent-led tour provides opportunities for meaningful conversations with the entire family. Follow along with a docent as they take you from gallery to gallery, highlighting various works.

Discover the latest museum and gallery news from Central Florida, including Orlando Museum Of Art, Orlando Science Center, The Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of American Art, The Mennello Museum of American Art, and more.

Guests are also encouraged to view the museum’s other current exhibitions, including Echoes of the Ancient in Contemporary Voices, Dennis Scholl: A Day of Four Sunsets, and other permanent collection exhibitions.

“Programs like gallery talks, sketching in the galleries and docent-led tours invite visitors to slow down, look closely and engage with art in personal and meaningful ways,” said Claeysen-Gleyzon. “We hope Access for All encourages both first-time guests and longtime museum visitors to discover something new within our exhibitions and permanent collection.”

In addition to free admission, Access for All events offer guided tours and engaging gallery activities, giving visitors the chance to connect with art in diverse and meaningful ways. Everyone is invited to join and experience the beauty and inspiration of art in a welcoming and inclusive setting.
