In the latest update from the National Hurricane Center, the area of low pressure over the eastern Caribbean Sea continues to show signs of organization, bringing the likelyhood of severe weather impacting Florida next week more likely.
The National Hurricane Center have issued its latest update showing that the area of low pressure over the eastern Caribbean Sea continues to approach the Gulf of Mexico, and is likely to strengthen and develop into a tropical depression over the next day or two, and a possible collision course for Florida.
Known as Invest 93L, the area of low pressure is currently located near Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula, with the disturbance continuing to show signs of organization. The national Hurricane Center now say that there is a 70% chance that the system will become a tropical depression over the next 48 hours and a 90% chance over the next seven day.
Yesterday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantisdirected the Florida Division of Emergency Management to prepare for the potential tropical system to impact the state next week.
The governor has also asked that residents should remain vigilant and prepare for possible impacts early next week.
Although it is far too early to know the intensity or track of this system, or if any effects will be felt in Florida.
