Walt Disney World have shared a groundbreaking post today, as Mickey Mouse has ben helping the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida officially break ground on their new robotics room at the Walt Disney World Clubhouse in Pine Hills, which is being built with funds from the $500K donation Walt Disney World made as part of their 50th Anniversary celebration.
Walt Disney World say they are honored to help this next generation of STEM storytellers develop their skills and reach for their dreams.
Once completed the new robotics room will help further expand students’ understanding of robotics and support efforts to help them reach their dreams in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) and beyond.
“Disney continues to create out-of-this world opportunities for our students and we are blown away by their continued investment,” said Gary Cain, President & Chief Executive Officer – Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida. “With this support, we’re able to continue our mission of inspiring and enabling all young people to realize their full potential.”
The Walt Disney World Boys & Girls Club in Pine Hills provides a place where local youth can take part in educational and mentoring programs as well as sports and arts activities.
The 25,000-square-foot facility features 30 computer stations, two learning centers, two game rooms, and a multi-purpose room.
Every day after school and all summer long, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Florida provide a safe and caring Club experience for children between the ages of 6 and 18 from our region’s most disadvantaged neighborhoods, at no or little cost to their families.
They believe that every child, regardless of income or life circumstance, should be empowered to excel in school, become good citizens and lead healthy, productive lives.
At each of their 36 Clubs, children are endowed with the confidence they need to stay out of trouble, make good decisions, and to chart a course toward a healthy and productive adulthood.
