Join the grand re-opening celebrations at the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland

Established in 1979, the Audubon Center for Birds of Prey in Maitland focuses on the rescue, rehabilitation, and conservation of Florida’s raptors.

Their unique, peaceful location, tucked along Lake Sybelia, just outside Orlando offers visitors an opportunity to learn about the unique adaptations of raptors, challenges they face, and the many ways to get involved with helping birds of prey and the important habitats and resources they depend on.

Recently, the campus has been closed to the public for six-months, allowing for major improvements to the campus, including a new owl aviary, and other updates.

Now with work nearing completion, the center has announced its grand re-opening to the public, inviting visitors to join the re-opening celebrations on Valentine's Day Weekend, February 14-15, when everyone will have the opportunity to explore the brand new owl aviary, say "hello again!" to the center's ambassador birds, and enjoy all the other updates the've made during the six-month closure.

Tickets for the weekend and beyond will be available for purchase online soon, or you can purchase admission when you arrive!

Thanks to the generosity of many donors, the new owl aviary has taken shape in Maitland! While the center been closed to the public, contractors were hard at work creating the new home for the center's owls.

The new avery includes ponds built in each section enablng the owls to stay cool and hydrated throughout the hot Central Florida summer. There are even covered viewing areas so guests can stay cool, too, with native plants and updated signage capping off this historic refresh.

Then ew Sitek Smith Owl Aviary will be home to Barred Owls Fil and Hitch, Great Horned Owls Henry, Charley, and Jeanne.

The new aviary not only gives guests a less-obstructed view of these beautiful owls, it also gives the owls a better habitat!
