For fans of the film Jaws, and of course the beloved classic ride that is no more at Universal Studios Florida, a new restaurant was planned to open here in Orlando, but that is not now happening, read on for more!
Lat December we bought you the news that Jaws Jumbo Burgers was opening a movie themed restaurant that pays tribute to the 1975 blockbuster movie JAWS, and that they were planning to open it just across the street from Universal Orlando, close to where the original ride at Universal Studios Florida was located, but sadly that plan will not be happening.
Owners of Jaws Jumbo Burgers now say that they are planning to open the restaurant elsewhere.
Paul Porter, VP of Jaws Jumbo Burgers, said in a news release that “One issue was that the cost to rent space in Orlando was outrageous,” He then went on to say. “Another issue was that we needed a space big enough to install our 6 ft x 12 ft Digital Shark Aquarium and our 10-foot Great White Shark attraction. We also needed the restaurant to have a good street view and that was also a problem with some of the rental spaces in Orlando.”
The new restaurant will now be located at 3131 SW College St., Ocala, located off 1-75.
“We looked at many cities and we found our perfect beautiful space in Ocala, just an hour away from Orlando,” Porter added.
The restaurant was scheduled to open earlier this spring, but now the restaurant will open on Monday, July 19.
Jaws Jumbo Burgers will be a spectacular attraction. The restaurant will feature many unique design concepts and fixtures, such as a 6 X 12 digital Jumbo Screen Shark Aquarium, a 10 foot Great White Shark replica that hangs from the ceiling, original movie posters in illuminated display cases and other collectible and interesting JAWS movie memorabilia.
Their goal is to create a memorable and exciting dining experience for the entire family.
Jaws' menu will offer sliders, burgers, chicken and fish sandwiches, fish and chips, grilled cheese, chicken wings, chicken wings and fries.
