Adopt-a-Tree events seek to give Orange County residents an opportunity to expand their landscape by giving away, or adopting, trees.

Grow your garden! Adopt-a-Tree returns this weekend with free trees for Orange County Residents

The University of Florida IFAS Extension Orange County and Orange County are once again giving away trees to Orange County residents.

Trees in your landscape can provide a habitat for wildlife, create shade for homes and capture excess carbon in the air! The latest Adopt-a-Tree event takes place on Saturday, July 12 at Fort Christmas Historical Park, 1300 Fort Christmas Rd N, Christmas.

Residents can pick up available tree species from 8 am to 12 pm, or until supplies last. There is a limit of 2 trees per household.

Residents are asked to bring proof of residency, in the form of a driver license, photo ID or utility bill.

The species at each event depends on what trees are provided by the nursery. Here are the species of trees expected:

Tabebuia (yellow)

Crepe Myrtle

Yaupon Holly

Red Maple

Oak, Bald Cypress

Winged Elm

Japanese Blueberry

Red Cedar

Magnolia

Hong Kong Orchid
