EPCOT to be the home of Walt Disney World's Disney100 Celebrations, but what can we expect?

Earlier today, we brought you the news that Walt Disney Worlds have revealed 6 months of Disney100 celebrations coming to the resort from next month.

Beginning April, each month through August will contain a Story World theme that will celebrates a different Disney franchise each month, including Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar and Disney Princesses, with the 6 months of celebrations bringing photo opportunities, limited time merchandise and more to the resort.

Once the 6 months of celebrations come to an end in September, focus will shift to EPCOT which Walt Disney World have already described as being the home of the resorts Disney100 celebrations.

So what can we look forward to?

EPCOT will host the Disney100 celebration at Walt Disney World Resort to commemorate this monumental milestone later this year.

Enjoy all-new experiences as Walt Disney World celebrate this momentous anniversary and the culmination of the EPCOT transformation – from meeting Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse in their platinum attire to snapping a selfie with a platinum sculpture of Walt Disney, and watching Spaceship Earth illuminate the evenings with a special lighting design.

Oh and could we see Disney announce the new EPCOT hotel that we know is in the works, and in a total blue sky moment, could we see the resort announce that the Mary Poppins ride is given the go ahead, oh well we can dream right?

So back to reality, this fall sees the culmination of the multi-year transformation of EPCOT, which will be tied in with the Disney100 Celebrations.

Guests will be able to explore the wonders of water when Journey of Water, Inspired by Moana opens.

This fun interactive outdoor trail offers a chance to play and interact with water as it travels from the sky to the oceans and back again. Along the way, guests learn about the importance of water and discover its playful personality – just as Moana did on her heroic voyage.

Fall will also see completion of the new World Celebration neighborhood. As the hub of the park, it will feature different gardens that change with the seasons.

It is also where guests will discover Dreamers Point, an inspiring overlook showcasing a statue of Walt Disney called “Walt the Dreamer.”

Also located in the World Celebration neighborhood, CommuniCore Hall will be the home of a dynamic exhibition space that will transform with each festival throughout the year, as you can see here in one possibility imagined for EPCOT International Festival of the Arts.

Playing with light, shapes and reflections, the architecture of this building was designed by Walt Disney Imagineering to celebrate the legacy of EPCOT and the original CommuniCore buildings.

In new renderings, you can see this will be home to a new character greeting location called Mickey & Friends. You’ll be able to meet Mickey Mouse and some of his best pals in this colorful space.
