Disney's Typhoon Lagoon Water Park and Island H2O Water Park in collaboration with aquatic centers and water parks worldwide, simultaneously hosted the World's Largest Swimming Lesson!
Leading Central Florida water parks, Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Island H20 Water Park have hosted hundreds of students from the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida who have taken part in The World’s Largest Swimming Lesson!
This annual event, organized by the World Waterpark Association (WWA), aims to raise awareness about childhood drownings and the crucial role of swimming lessons in saving lives. Island H2O Water Park and Disney's Typhoon Lagoon contributed to this global initiative by offering free water safety lessons to children from the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida.
With the soaring summer temperatures, families are eager to cool off at beaches and pools, and while swimming is a popular and enjoyable activity, it is crucial to have a level of awareness and respect for bodies of water.
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), drowning is the leading cause of death for children aged 1-4 in the United States and the second leading cause for children aged 5-14.
"As our planet is predominantly covered by water, and Central Florida itself is blessed with abundant aquatic wonders, Island H2O Water Park understands the importance of water safety," said Island H2O Water Park Aquatics Supervisor Amy Cheek. "We wholeheartedly recognize the significance of providing young individuals with essential water safety knowledge. By proudly hosting the Boys & Girls Club of Central Florida for the WLSL event, we reaffirm our dedication to empowering children with crucial water safety education, while emphasizing the vital importance of acquiring swimming skills."
