City of Kissimmee introduces self-service kayak rentals at Shingle Creek Park

The City of Kissimmee Parks and Recreation Department has introduced a new outdoor recreation service at Shingle Creek Regional Park: self-service kayak rentals, now available seven days a week from sunrise to sunset.

This new amenity is provided in partnership with Whenever Watersports and is designed to make kayaking more accessible and convenient for both residents and visitors.

Using the kiosk located at Steffee Landing, users can scan a QR code, follow prompts in a mobile app, and unlock a kayak within minutes.

A short video tutorial, "4 Easy Steps to Use Our Self-Service Kayaks," is available to guide first-time users.

The system offers flexibility for outdoor enthusiasts and families looking to explore the scenic waters of Shingle Creek, widely considered the headwaters of the Everglades. Whether for eco-tourism, casual recreation, or a quiet paddle through nature, this new service offers a modern twist on one of Central Florida’s most iconic natural assets.

The kayak rental launch point is located at:

Shingle Creek Regional Park – Steffee Landing

This initiative supports the City’s continued investment in accessible and enriching outdoor opportunities. It is one of many recreation-focused projects designed to enhance the quality of life, promote health and wellness, and foster environmental exploration within the community.

For residents and visitors seeking to engage in recreational activities, the City of Kissimmee publishes a Recreation Program Guide twice a year.

The guide features information on sports leagues, youth and senior programs, community events, aquatics, and more. Download the latest guide at: kissimmee.gov/recreationguide
